I was shopping around for a model oled switch and the prices are so high they range from $800-$1000 with that type of money I can buy something better what are your thoughts what are the going prices for a oled ?

I bought oled and mod chip separate. Total cost $340.
$250 for oled used. $90 for mod chip. I installed the mod chip myself.
If you want to save some money, buy one used and buy the chip yourself. If you can't install it yourself then find a repair shop and ask them to install it for you.
Btw don't buy from etsy. Everything's so overpriced and tbh you'd probably have better luck on facebook or craigslist, if you want to buy one pre-modded.

$800 isn't too far off depending on what you get and where you're located.

Install fee: $150 (OLED is not a simple install)
Things always cost more when you have someone else do the work. You're trading $$ for their time, skill, and experience. Not to mention there are the Nintendo ninjas that the modders have to watch out for.
Depends on your definition of "better". There are of course pros and cons for either. We can't really answer that for you.
The AYANEO looks like a nice piece of hardware, but at its core it is a PC. If you want to play Switch specific games you'll have a lot of hoops to jump through and they likely won't run as well in emulation as on genuine Switch hardware. The modded Switch on the other hand has the opposite problem. It runs Switch games fantastically but struggles with other things.
To be honest I'd wait to see what a 2nd generation Steam Deck will offer in the handheld PC gaming space. But then again I already have a Switch so I'm not really looking to fill a mobile gaming desire.
Personally I would never buy any PC based handheld device (including those arm based retro emulation handhelds). Of course the specs are better than switch and everything but the problem is it's still a pc, which means it will be outdated in a year or even several months when they release a new model based on a more powerful soc. Maybe you can run some 3A games on it in low-medium settings now but good luck with that in the next year. However if you buy a switch you know it will be supported for years to come.

with that logic you should never buy a regular pc or game system. if it still runs games smooth and at good graphics and good FPS, its not outdated.
You missed my entire point. If I build a pc I can upgrade it anytime I want, even if I don't upgrade it, with medium-high end hardware it can last at least 3-5 years. I built my last pc in 2017 with 1080ti and 8700k, and it lasts 5 years without any upgrade (except adding 16gb more ram) before I sold it earlier this year. It would still a great performer if you play in medium-high settings in 1080p, even for recent 3A titles. My current pc with ryzen 5950x and 3080ti I built last year would serve me another 5 years without any issue.
Even for gaming laptops that can't be upgraded, they come with more or less powerful enough hardware that can you last at least 2-3 years. For about $1000 you can get a gaming laptop with 3060 gpu and 11/12th gen i7 processor. However for handhelds like ayaneo op mentioned, it came out last year with ryzen 4500u (which was already outdated since ryzen 5000u series released about the same time) and it still sells for $1000 now. Even for more recent hardware like steam deck that comes with faster custom soc, it's already outdated as latest ryzen 6800u is about 2x as fast. So how does ryzen 6800u perform? GPU wise it's slower than mobile GTX 1650. Yeah let that sink in, do you think you can still game with a mobile GTX 1650 in a year or two?
The issue with Aya Neo is that it come out with a new model like every three months, that why manufacture out there struggle to supply accessory for it, Im not kidding though, you can't even tpu case for the aya neo since they never made any, plus the price tag is crazy, expect to pay around $1000 dollars even for an used one. In term of PC/Steam gaming, Steam deck would be a better choice and and more accessory available.
Valve does seem to be attempting to address that issue with the Steam deck. Additionally, if one is buying a handheld gaming console, I doubt they expect to play at AAA titles at 4k 120 FPS. Nintendo has proven that people don't NEED ultra high resolution or FPS to enjoy mobile gaming.
True, you don't need 4k 120fps ray tracing or whatnot to make a good game, but on steam deck in order to play 3A titles at acceptable framerate, you usually have to reduce settings to medium-low and run the game at 720p. I saw in a god of war benchmark video, in order to improve fps above 30fps, you also need to turn down rendering resolution to like 60%..
I like the idea of a powerful handheld gaming console that can play pc 3a titles, but right now the technology just isn't there yet. Maybe I'll pick one up in a few years (if they still make them after the hype died down), but definitely not now.

I didn't know they made an MSU cart for the Genesis.... I knew about the SNES one and the library for that is rather large but the Genesis one has very few games+1
