I think it was funny back then tales of destiny 2 was not even part of one. They gave it that name because 1 did so well they was hoping to sell by name alone. It was properly renamed on PSP to tales of eternia.

As others have said, Xillias and Berseria/Zestiria are separate arcs. i highly recommend Xillia 1, 2 wasn't as good IMO - I didn't really gel with main char on that one, but if my recollection serves right it wasn't at all a map reuse project like Dawn of the New World, but a new game in same universe on it's own right.

Tales of graces F is one of my fav tales games all times , same like vesperia

I'm playing alot of tales games , still waiting for tales of destiny 2 english patch fan translation release

I suggest you to try tales of destiny director cut english patch ps2 , really great games and quite hard

Xillia 2 have much better post games content compare to xillia 1 , I still prefer jude as main character in xillia 1 compare to ludger

Ludger are damage machine in xillia 2 , no other character can even close to him in term of damage deal with his 3 types of weapons plus his special ability

You will spam alot of dual mystic arte in higher difficulty in xillia 2 , they have alot of dual mystic artes

Ludger in xillia 2 also have max attack stats easier compare to other characters with his special weapon , power up with every times you use link attack while other characters special weapon power up with each enemy that characters kill
