USBfs would require a USB cable.

If you want to see a Windows file share you would use SMB (and you won’t need nut to see the files in your file share) but I have to warn you it’s going to be hella slow!

The nut command you’re running would serve up the files in the local directory to Tinfoil using the actual nut option in Tinfoil.

So bottom line: you’ve picked 3 things that don’t work directly together so let’s see if we can narrow down your choices a bit.

Do you want:
  1. Fastest possible install from your PC (USB)
  2. Convenient, low setup server side, access over wireless from anywhere but slow (SMB)
  3. Native Tinfoil access, similar to your own shop, that requires a server running on your PC (Nut)

Ok, I may have used wrong wording. I didn't want to suggest SMB at all. I said a "shared folder" because using the USB cable and setting the "Local Folders" in nut gui would allow me to browse that folder from within Tinfoil usbfs. At least that's what I was doing with my old card.

But what I want is in fact to use option 1 you mentioned! And I can't find many examples or instructions on how to setup things!

Hello,

Noexes is a debugging tool used by Switch Developers. 99.9% chance you don’t need it.

https://github.com/mdbell/Noexes
“A graphical remote debugger for the Nintendo Switch”

Also when i try to use sys monitor module in dock botw it kinda works but dont show on the screen any solution?

This guy, right?
https://gbatemp.net/threads/status-monitor-overlay-tesla-overlay-to-monitor-your-hardware.558505/

What steps are you taking and what works/doesn’t work along the way?

@binkinator is that dpad mod playable when you need to use that con in split screen as one pad :P?

So far no issues. Everything plays like normal.

any ideas for homebrew games not booting anymore after updating to 15.0.0?

What games are we talking about? Trying to ascertain whether these are ports or straight up homebrew.

I think we’ve established that Status Monitor Over does not work in docked mode.

Gonna give it a read, although I'm not in Windows! I'll compare the steps there to what I did so far!
Thanks

Yea, in windows, simply starting nut is enough. But I am giving it some parameters in Linux, and still can't see anything in usbfs:// on my console! The only thing different I did was to wnable the "Install Unsigned Code" but nothing changed!

When I start nut I see this:

There are some errors in this log but I don't know if there are good to ignore or not.
And then in the gui, I see this:

It says disconnected from USB, but the console is connected.
Also, in the folder where I have a coupe of games (.nsp an .xci files), it can only see the one above.

The server side isn[t that complicated so you should be OK. Just make sure you have some nsp or xci files in the directory where you start nut.

The one other thing you might try is to switch to just :usb instead of :usbfs in tinfoil.

E: also helps to set up config file instead of typing it in each time on the command line.

Copy this default file…

https://github.com/blawar/nut/blob/master/conf/nut.default.conf

…into ./conf/nut.conf

Then make any changes there.

I have been editing my previous post.
Yes, I also tried usb://. Can't see nothing either.
About the config file, do you then need to give the config file path as a parameter or nut wil read it automatically if it is present?

Ahhhh. I see now. Good deal.

It just needs to be present. It will look for ./conf/nut.conf
https://github.com/blawar/nut/blob/2cf351400418399a70164987e28670309f6c9cb5/nut/Config.py#L877

There are some more USB configs for Linux hidden here:

https://github.com/blawar/nut#installation-guide-linux

E: if I recall correctly, your files need to be named correctly to the right pattern. Try renaming them to match the pattern of the working one.

I managed somehow to see the console with the status "Connected" now. I changed the USB port I was using.
In my case, usbfs:// freezes Tinfoil and can't access the folder with the games in my latop.
Not sure if it is related to this:
https://github.com/blawar/nut/issues/387

However, why it only sees one of 3 or 4 games in the folder?
These are the contents of the folder

Did you unrar the nsp/xci files underneath what looks like might be torrent directories to the untrained eye?

Might want to try :usb protocol now and see if that works.

yes I have.
I'll try to change the names of the files to see if anything changes. Namelly Bayonetta which is in xci format!

Where do I find the game key? I mean that long string of chars in the middle of the name of the file in MotoGP22 case?
I need to put it for Bayonetta.

I seem to recall an Organize option. I thought it would rename files…might be mixing it up with nspindexer.

I have no idea what that option does. Anyway, changing the names of the files actually make them to show up in the application.
So, I think things are going better now.

And is it normal that XCI files are considered DLCs? In this case my Bayonetta 3 file is XCI and shows up as DLC in nut_gui!

What did you name it? Did you use the correct titleID and (v)ersion? It should be 0 for a base game. Try checking your file with one of the backup checkers.

Let me align your answers to my questions to make sure we’re on the same page…

When you say, “menu/settings” what does that mean? Perhaps a screenshot might clear my confusion…

I did something like Bayonetta_3_[random_shit_here][v0].xci.
And I wanted to know the correct "random_shit" but I don't know where to get it!

Edited;
And I ran into problems because I first tried [v1] and it automatically created a new folder inside nut. Then, I deleted the xci file from that folder by hand and nut was not starting anymore. So, I had to create the folder again and it's starting now.
The xci file is now in another folder inside nut because as you said, v0 is base and apparently v1 is DLC. Didn't try anything different from v0 and v1, so I don't know if there are other meanings for it.

But yes, it seems to exist a bug with usbfs:// as I pointed above in the github link. And it's not fixed.

Check this out:

https://titledblookup.stackblitz.io/

Select language file to use, type in a word to search, and bingo, you get your tittleID. :-)

Can do it here, too:

My bad luck couldn't stop here.
I don't understand the philosofy of this nut.
I just donwloaded an update for Bayonetta 3, changed it's name for "Bayonetta_3_Update[keyhere][v1.0.0].xci".
After that I think I click on Organize names and apparently nothing changed. However, when I check in console, I see the name like "Bayonetta_3_Update[keyhere][v1.0.0].xci[v0].xci".
Moreover, when I try to install this, it downloads to the console but then I get an error: Unknown NCA magic (decryption faile?).

Any tips? I found a thread from gbatemp saying it should be fine and install, but not in my case. When I try to start the game, I still get a message to install an update!
