Nintendo apologizes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance problems, new patch released

When the review embargo for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lifted, one of the biggest problems both critics and players had with the games was the performance issues. A little under two weeks have passed since then, and it looks like Game Freak is getting around to fixing some of them. A version 1.1.0 patch of the game has been released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, bringing the first season of ranked battles to the games, as well as patching out select bugs. Included in the patch notes was also an apology from Nintendo, who stated that they are currently working on improvements to the games, in regard to performance problems.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

I bought the game and I'm having a blast — last time I had this much fun playing a Pokémon game was X/Y.
Technical issues are just part of the experience and they do not ruin the overall enjoyment.
I have 60 hours on it and the worst thing happening is a couple of times a pokémon popped in in front of me and NPCs running at 5fps if you're not near them.

I couldn't care less about what you think of me as long as I'm having fun — and Scarlet/Violet deliver: they have by far the most captivating rival since who knows how long, they introduced 100+ new pokémon and forms which you can use if like me you were getting tired of the same ones, gyms being just one of the many things you can do makes it one of the most dynamic Pokémon that has ever been made and if in that particular moment you lack motivation to fight a gym you can simply go doing something else.

If people really believe they can just reduce everything to "muh performance", well, please, go ahead, but don't try to make it sound like we all should share the thought, because I sure as hell don't.

That being said, I expect them to fix the game and if they don't I'll be sure to remember it when considering whether to buy or not the next Pokémon. So it's not like I overlook the technical issue the game has, but when people like you try to frame it as a monodimensional situation in which you only have the technical side to evaluate, I really can't comprehend where you come from — because there are so many things that go along with a gaming experience and it's so stubborn to stop at poor performance. It's not like the game is unplayable, and it has lots of high-quality elements.
You're the exception, not the rule.

A bit of both. But yeah, like, if you think about it, game corpos release unfinshined and broken games, people buy it anyway, point out glitches and bug, like, basically the customer is doing a bugtester's job, and the corpo gets paid for it, mh.

Anyone else noticing a pattern in the industry these days?

I miss the pre-patching days... There are undeniable benefits but it FORCED people to have their shit together before kicking anything out the door........ Well, in most cases
Something about this Pokemon feel unpolished....
Unusually so, might be just nostalgia talking, but I feel like my pokemon leafgreen play through didn't have so many performance issues.

Even if you surf the web, all you see is funny shit, nothing game-breaking. So I don't think I'm the exception here, no. Especially because as a gamer I tend to go off the rails, so to speak, and do what devs didn't plan players to do. Even so, the game has performance issues but nothing game-breaking, and bugs are mostly fun, nor do they hinder the experience.

Especially because as a gamer I tend to go off the rails, so to speak, and do what devs didn't plan players to do. Even so, the game has performance issues but nothing game-breaking, and bugs are mostly fun, nor do they hinder the experience.
I would agree the bugs aren't the painful aspect, the poor performance is. (although one bug where the elite four music loops the first 3 seconds throughout all the fights would ruin that experience imo). The game is still playable but it has turned me away from continuing it. I would prefer to play a game that doesn't stutter so much.

Performance is terrible, I agree. In fact, as I said before, I expect them to fix it and if they don't, I'll have to reconsider buying the next Pokémon. Then again, it's not game-breaking and Violet&Scarlet are way too good to be ruined by that, in my opinion.

Perhaps I relieved the issues by playing only in docked mode?

I am playing in docked mode too, haven't tried portable because my joycons drift to the extreme

I am hopeful they improve performance with patches, but I'm afraid it would require such a fundamental redo of the game's engine that it won't happen. I suspect we will have to wait for switch 2 to make the game playable. To my knowledge every laggy and slow switch game released so far has continued to be laggy and slow post launch.

What exactly is "woke" about Nintendo FFS, they're down there with Games Workshop for being extremely fascistic and overprotective of their IP to ridiculous degree, heck, they're worse than effing DISNEY.
Nintendo called snowman as "snowpeople" in Mario Kart Tour, but that's nothing compared to what Disney does these days.

Still, that's pretty fucking stupid.

Yep. Can't even trust Nintendo-branded games to play without a damn patch/update.

If enough people get tired of patches/updates, then they may just go to play older games. I personally don't care too much about graphics as long as they look good and the performance is stable or decent, so I'm happy with PS2/GCN/Wii/Xbox 360 games.

SNES graphics still look artistically beautiful, too.

You said the game's issues didn't bother you. Which is fine, and I know that enough people feel that way. Which is, in its own, fine.
But this kind of practices; releasing an unfinished or unpolished game; aren't. Anyone who buys these unfinished or unrefined games day one becomes part of the problem.
What incentive do big corporations have to produce high quality goods if the consumers eat up wathever's out the door the day it comes out?
We as the audience have to show that these corporations and companies need to make high quality content in order for us to buy them. If we keep buying shitty reskins (like some sports games), unplayable games (like some shooters) and unfinished projects (like this mess), we are giving them the power to keep on releasing undercooked products!
There's nothing wrong in enjoying these games in these states of disrepair, but it's important to see both sides too.
Yes, there is a fun games below the glitchy crust. But also, there are issues that NO ONE should ignore. Through hacking and emulation, yes the game will run X or Y compared to on a day one Switch or an OLED, but the general audience and playerbase has a basic setup of a regular Switch/OLED and will likely play it as is.
As is, many players have many stories to tell, from an amusing glitchfest to a boring mediocre experience to an unforgettable memory of the best thing since sliced bread: everyone seems to have different things to say.
But the majority has had issues.
Thus, you not having any makes you the exception. And then going on about "This will make me reconsider future purchases" at the same time that you bought this game in this state.

Leafgreen ran great on a GBA but it had one major issue; no way to get or use Jhotto Pokémon. So no Crobat, no Espeon or Umbreon and so on. Which is lame if your favorite was one of those. And don't get me started on how to add back the missing Pokémon, man. The game's great if all you wanna do is play through Kanto again, though, and it's perfect at that.
