Tinfoil Ver 13.0. I think there is a newer version, no? Should I try to install it over the current one?
I tried to install a 239Mb game and the console only shows:
install failed. Looking for mirror...

The version of Tinfoil to download is "Applet version", yes?
That one is old. I’m on 15.0 R10

What FirmWare/AMS/Hekate are you on?

Once you are up to date you can update Tinfoil like so:

Download the self installer version so Tinfoil will show up on your main menu. You will need to move the downloaded tinfoil.nro to /switch and then use title override to access hbmenu and then click on Tinfoil Installer. At that point yiu are done. :-)

I'm on 15.0.1 / 1.4.0 / 5.9.0 - 1.4.0

But from Tinfoil site, which file I should download? Is it the NRO?

Oh, nice. You’re good to go.

If you install the self installer it will auto update from this point on so, you want this one:

Is that for Windows only computers or is that placed somewhere directly in the SD card and installed later when console is already running?
You download tinfoil.nro by clicking the blue square and then place tinfoil.nro in the /switch directory on your SDCard and place it in your Switch. Tinfoil Installer runs on your Switch.

Ok, I know how to download. :P... I was asking wich one of the 4 options on the site I should use!
I'm creating a new SD card with partitions and etc. This is a proccess I did only once and I was guided by @de9ed and I am not sure now of some of those steps you do only once.
In this case is Tinfoil but I got it! Thanks again

The blue square I circled in red with the red arrow pointing at it in the picture in my previous post is the one you want.

This might help with your new card:

ok.
The new card is already done and ready. The thing is that I don't know exactly what happens when chosing the partitions. So, this is a matter of trial and error and see what happens in terms of space availabe, etc!

Edited;
One other thing about Tinfoil. I downloaded the one you mentioned, unzipped it to the root of the SD card, which will create (or overwrite) a folder called 'switch'. Then, I went to "Album" and slided all the way to the right, and clicked on Tinfoil. It seemed to me to enter in Tinfoil instead of installing it. Then, to confirm, I went back to home screen and clicked on '+' while Tinfoil was selected and it still shows Ver. 13. What am I missing?

Edited 1;
In my new card, I repeated the same proccess and it happens the same. Not sure if I'm missing anything. Also, the chaaracters/letters next to each option/menu are not showing up correct. They are all black an completely ininteligible.

If you partition with Hekate there is a red slider at the top. You slide it over to 29G (1x what’s needed) for your partition. Hecate will place the hidden partition at the end of your SDCard leaving the rest of the disk formatted to FAT32 for the rest of your files.

Perfect…overwrite will place it in the correct place.

That is not correct behavior. One moment…we ran across this the other day. I have a workaround that works…

Oh ok. I selected 58 FULL. But no problem. I was just experimenting. I'll repeat the process tomorrow with 29 FULL. That way I'll have a bit more free space.
But this is like a partition for SysNAND and another for emuNAND? Is that it?

Ok. I'll be waiting. If I don't reply is because I went to bed in the meantime!

Sysnand resides inside you machine on the eMMC chip. Emunand is a copy of Sysnand that you place in the hidden partition. The size of the eMMC chip is…29G. :-)

I edited above but will move it here to make better sense…

here is the thread:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-noob-paradise-ask-questions-here.488277/post-10010114

Download the archive.org link I posted there. It is Tinfoil version 15.0 R1 but once you install it and run it the self installed version will auto update. Cool stuff. :-)

PS Don’t use Album to install. You need to use title override which means you need at least one game title installed. I usually use Tinwoo or Goldleafe to install Othello.nsp because it is a very small game. 100MB…small!

Installers

  • Tinwoo — A nice installer for when you just want to install.
  • DBI — Capable feature filled and fast installer.
  • Goldleaf — The kitchen sink but it can also install games.
  • Tinfoil — Polished installer. Recommend the Self installing version.

So i need to create a new emunand but i don't want to redo my entire memory card. Is there a way to delete my current emummc and create a new one without deleting everything else? I know i have a partition based emummc.

Yes, you can use NXNandManager or Hekate to backup and restore nand images.

Here’s some reading about creating a copy of you emunand for use on a different card. The concepts are similar. Just change the sources and targets around a bit.

https://rentry.org/EmuNANDNewSDcard

One note, if you overwrite your current emunand you will lose the state of your current setup including things such as game saves.

This should do it:

Disclaimer: I wrote this up using copy pasta and some quick ninja edits. Read through it to make sure it makes sense. I could have missed something. Use at your own risk!

Steps:

  1. You'll have to first boot into Hekate, and then go to the Tools tab.
  2. After that choose Backup eMMC
  3. Pick eMMC RAW GPP.
  4. Once done, press Close, and go back to the Tools tab.
  5. Pick Backup eMMC
  6. Pick eMMC BOOT0 & BOOT1.
  7. Once the backup is done, plug your SD card into your PC and go to your /backup/xxxxxxxx/ folder and move all rawnand.bin.xx, BOOT0, and BOOT1 files into the restore folder.
  8. Plug your SD card back into your Switch and boot into Hekate.
  9. Pick Restore eMMC and turn on SD emuMMC Raw Partition.
  10. Press SD emuMMC RAW GPP.
  11. Once done, press Close, and then go back to the Tools tab.
  12. Pick Restore eMMC and turn on SD emuMMC Raw Partition.
  13. Pick SD emuMMC BOOT0 & BOOT1.
  14. Once done, press Close, and then pick emuMMC, then pick Migrate emuMMC, and finally pick Fix RAW.

I keep getting this error and after i press power it just tries to boot atmosphere and goes back to the error

"A fatal error occured when running Fusee.
Unable to identity package1!

Press power to reboot

What caused it?

I downloaded Pokemon Scarlet and then tried to match local software with my non modded switch which has the game and then the modded switch said it needs to reboot so i let it and now that error pops up. Not sure how to fix this, as the switch was working just fine earlier before i did this

What I tried doing?

I held power button to try and force power off and when it does power off . I launch tegra on my pc and connected it to my switch it would normally just boot up my switch in CFW but instead it goes back to the error :

"A fatal error occured when running Fusee.
Unable to identity package1!

Press power to reboot
Did you recently upgrade?

Please post your FW/AMS/Hekate versions as well as a copy of your /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini file

I didnt upgrade the console so basically...

Pokemon Scarlet on my modded switch was outdated cause of the charizard patch update as a result I couldnt trade with my non modded switch cause the firmware for the game wasn't matching.

What I did:

I went on both my switches the modded one and non-modded one and press match with local firmware for Pokemon Scarlet . When I did that the modded switch after updating the game it says it needs to restart so i pressed A and it was going to reboot then all of a sudden the error popped it and so i pressed the power button and it boots atmo for a second and glitches and goes back to the error. So I held the power button and it kept cycling the same error until it finally forced power off, I then proceeded to open tegra on my pc and plugged the usb cable into the switch so it can boot into cfw but instead of normally doing that it goes back to the error message

not sure how to check AMS/Hekate version since the switch cant be booted to check that

No worries…we can get you running again.

Please post your /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini file.

E: TBH it seems like you might have updated the firmware in your emunand by running that match firmware stuff…reading up on what all that does in the background now. we might as well bump your atmosphere and Hekate versions and get you new Sigpatches while we’re at it…

Does updating a game automatically update the firmware of the switch? i thought it would just update the game only?
Also how do I do all that? I paid someone a while back to mod the switch for me a long time ago

From what I’m reading it’s game only. I’m seeing if there’s any chance it does FW as well…something caused them to be out of sync. Seemed like a likely culprit.

payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee.bin

Your hekate looks good.

I’m assuming your able to boot boot OFW normally…basically everything works except CFW, correct?

OK…let’s get you sorted the fastest and most sure way possible.

Based on your hekate_ipl.ini file it looks like your installer followed the rentry guide.

(The following is partially plagiarized from the rentry CFW upgrade guide with a couple changes for your scenario)

Before we do anything let’s backup your files so we can at least get back to where we are right now.

Using your PC…

Move/rename your /atmosphere directory to /atmosphere.bk
Move/rename your /bootloader directory to /bootloader.bk

What you'll need:

Steps:

  1. Extract the the contents of following files to the root of your SD card:
    • atmosphere-x.xx.x-master-xxxxxxxx+hbl-x.x.x+hbmenu-x.x.x.zip
    • hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x_Nyx_x.x.x.zip
    • Hekate+AMS-package3-sigpatches-xxx.zip
  2. When asked to overwrite any files, click Yes.
  3. Move fusee.bin to /bootloader/payloads/

copy /bootloader.bk/hekate_ipl.ini to /bootloader/

Do the rest of the things in this guide to make sure your protection is still intact:

https://rentry.org/ExosphereDNSMITM

And finally…reboot.
