Nintendo apologizes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance problems, new patch released

sadsadasdas.png

When the review embargo for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lifted, one of the biggest problems both critics and players had with the games was the performance issues. A little under two weeks have passed since then, and it looks like Game Freak is getting around to fixing some of them. A version 1.1.0 patch of the game has been released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, bringing the first season of ranked battles to the games, as well as patching out select bugs. Included in the patch notes was also an apology from Nintendo, who stated that they are currently working on improvements to the games, in regard to performance problems.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

So you're saying the game was rushed and released unfinished and unpolished? OH NO WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING!? Unfortunately they have no meddling kids or their damn dog so they'll probably get away with it.

Wouldn’t have this issue if they’d of stuck with pixel art, would have looked a damn side better as well. Just imagine a Pokémon game that looks as good as Eastward.

I really doubt a new patch is gonna have any serious effect on performance.
In fact, that exists. It got released on a major software version update for the Switch.

Developers can even "overclock" by sections. For example, Zelda BOTW "overclocks" in the loading screen, so it loads way faster than on release.

Wonder if they're gonna release updates to fix the other issues? Adding more Pokémon and moves back in (when, especially moves, should've never been dropped in the first place), adding a Battle Tower thing to give us something to spend more time on after finishing everything else, more outfits, etc.

Performance in this new Pokemon is a joke. Game Freak need to learn how optimise their games. I play no Mans sky on Nintendo switch. When this game is out. And pokemon Scarlett is a mess compare to no Mans sky or Nier Automata. I quit play Pokemon Violet Cause those performance issue. Started playing Pokemon Shining Pearl. Finished this game. And still they not fix those performance issue. Its a joke

>Switch still doesn't have an extended memory mode like 3DS did

I mean, I'm not gonna blame the hardware there. I could blame it for Bayonetta 3. But not for this. Game Freak has always been incompetent when developing games. It's something we knew since Red and Blue. Or any kind of game developed by them that wasn't Pokémon. The problem is, as games get more and more complex, their incompetence started showing up even for the masses.

Preformace was shit. They may of optimized the code, but they also could of just overclocked the hardware and called it a day.

Overclocking may improve performance, however buggy code will still be buggy.
Even in Breath of the Wild Nintendo only allow overclocking in short bursts, like on the loading screens (If I'm not mistaken).

That speeds up loading, but does not affect the general performance.

Also overclocking may not fix all lag in every game. The Switch will often be bottlenecked by memory bandwidth.

I think the best way for them to improve the performance would be a combination of implementing the upscaler from Nintendo Sports, and do some serious under the hood optimising of the code.

mainly taking stabs at how poorly written the code is. Ive seen some glitches my friends showed me.

Ex: There was a fish in the middle of a bridge that never moved.
Ex2: The face glitch where if your good enough you can put an expression on and keep it on.
Ex3: The fish i was riding disappeared but the animation was still there.
Ex4: Lag Spikes in alot of areas (Mainly due to how shit the hardware is, I had to turn down the setting in minecraft to get stable FPS and load in chunks)
Ex5: The amount of performance issues were experienced by EVERYONE and Nintendo themselves had to put this out

Nintendo should of optomize/bug fix the code and not release the game in this Bethesda Glitchfest style way. Fallout 76/Cyberpunk 2077/OW2 happened again.

Yes I have the game as well, and the performance and stability is just as bad as everyone says.

I have no hope that they will ever fully fix the games performance.
But I do hope that they at least squash most bugs.

This is impossible to happen if bug testers exist, and gameplay testers.
I dont know why and how this even exists.... Its bizarre.
Paying customers now do what was once the job from said bugtesters and such.
Why pay someone to do it when you can have people paying it (buying the game on release) to do so.
I don't understand why they shipped it with such performance lacking..
I mean, did they test it on an actual switch or on ryujinx on a nasa pc?
Gotta have money fast. That and they now just know that, no matter the quality of their games, they're gonna sell like hotcakes anyway.
They don't have to try anymore.

I remember them saying a while back that they was going to aim to start releasing games on an annual basis.
This year they released multiple.

My guess is that they prefer releasing a broken game on time over delaying it until it's ready.

I hope they will start getting their priorities sorted out in the future after this mess.

Nintendo is not finishing games and/or putting them through QC because they probably got rid of that dept because of "covid" aka the Flu..
I would be embarrassed to be an Nintendo employee right about now. Imagine if they had to look kids in their eyes after selling them pure shit.

The main reason I pirate everything. I refuse to buy a $70 item and get a broken $5 product!!!
