Hacking Hardware Can I trust this website to mod an OLED?

I'm highly considering getting a Nintendo switch OLED and a hwfly modchip, I found a service that does it for 120USD. Has anyone had service from this place before and can I trust it? Just looking for some outside input.

The guy have good review but it says you need to supply your own chip, de9ed is also in Canada you can try hitting him up.

Thank you for looking into it, i can provide my own chip, I'll likely buy it this weekend and hope it comes by Christmas lol.

I would personally use a local cellphone repair or electronics place. Someone with a shop you can walk in to and talk to. But if they’re still Online after the Ninty Ninjas pay them a visit now, I’d say go for it.

Only place in town has a bad rep, they broke my SNES n3dsxl and i still haven't gotten over it. i'm willing to ship if it means avoiding them lol. thanks for your advice though!

You can also hunt for one that is already modded, if that is easier for you, it is rare to find a HWFLY Modded OLED online though, probably be able to find one for a reasonable price if you keep hunting.

Well that sucks. It kinda limits your options then.

I just cruised their site. They’ve been around for a while doing a ton of other stuff…some of it requiring quite a bit of knowledge and skill. Switch is a small part of their overall business and it seems they have a much larger reputation to protect so warranty shipping and the like should be good.

I considered that but the places i found are charging upwards of 850-900 which is out of my budget, I'll keep looking but it's unlikely as it's pretty rare as you said... thanks anyways

900 Canadian is a good price if everything is included like dock, joycon, charger. I pay $712 USD for mine. You can look on sites ebay, mercari, facebook marketplace in your local area.

If you look at this then it would be like bad price as the person is selling the tablet for 570 USD.

Off topic but on topic.... I used to have 2 or 3 people here in the UK that could do Switch modifications, 3DS repairs and general console modding but now I have nobody

People have either gone in to hiding due to worry over getting in trouble or just don't want my money lol

Out of curiosity, how many Switch consoles do you own? I've got two (both unpatched). I've been reasonable.

ebay keeps deleting listings of modded oled consoles, I tried to sell on ebay earlier this year and the listing would get removed within 2 days after posting. Even my v1 unpatched listing was deleted probably because I mentioned cfw or unpatched in the description. Seriously, fuck ebay.

If you are buying online then you might as well check sthetix's store. Console only is about $530 (USD), but shipping could be a bit expensive ($80). Good thing is it's shipped by dhl/ups so should be pretty fast.

It comes to roughly 820 after shipping but before tax for me to buy from there, i think i should just wait and see if i have the money to get the modchip this weekend to begin with...none of this is set in stone yet.

I will consider this! I have my old markio switch with joycons lying around and all so it's not actually that bad of of a deal tbh if i can get it to ship to canada

No. Actually, what I do is using one for handheld games, and the other for the dock to play on TV. When I get obsessed trying to finish a game, the other Switch will get a long break.

totally agree with you on that one, there used to be loads of independent game stores who done modding kind off under the counter style or computer fairs every weekend, you could by gateway flashcards, R4's ,those dodgy PS3 jailbreak dongles and get stuff modded. just don't get them in UK any longer.

That funny my friends use to be like how many switch you have, since I used to have 1 regular unmodded and 3 Trinket M0, 1x Rebug Switchme (Trinket Clone)

Not that I know of. One of them went online once, and might be banned, not sure, never checked afterwards. The other one never went online at all. Anyway, I have no use for online, so I'm self banning.
