Nintendo apologizes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance problems, new patch released

sadsadasdas.png

When the review embargo for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lifted, one of the biggest problems both critics and players had with the games was the performance issues. A little under two weeks have passed since then, and it looks like Game Freak is getting around to fixing some of them. A version 1.1.0 patch of the game has been released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, bringing the first season of ranked battles to the games, as well as patching out select bugs. Included in the patch notes was also an apology from Nintendo, who stated that they are currently working on improvements to the games, in regard to performance problems.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

a real apology would be making the series have less of a do or or half do kind of time crunch cycle. the fact that legends arceaus, a dam spinoff, came out of the oven at least somewhat alright while the true mainline games are suffering is sad. legends certainly could have been better but at least it came out working like a finished game

'players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance'
I love corporate speak - players 'may' encounter issues. The FPS is garbage for everyone :rofl2: unless you overclock with sys-clk + RAM patch which honestly saves the game. Then throw on a game speed code to make it 1.5x speed because otherwise the game is sluggish and then its great. I hate how this doesn't fix low FPS NPCs which are completely pathetic - I knew something was wrong when the windmills in the very first trailer were super low FPS.

Maybe someone can explain me, im just curious:
How were the companies fixing bugs when consoles weren't internet compatible?
I mean, i see roms online for games like pokemon emerald with a version number like 1.1
How did we, players, were getting that patch?

Cart revisions. They updated the game and silently release the new vesion on newer carts

some game releases had the newer version of the build that fix a bug but they did not really tell you so the early emerald releases were 1.0 and the later ones were 1.1 ect.

I have a gut feeling the Big N isn’t happy and they got more involved
Maybe Ninty's scared of the reputational hit because this is the fastest selling Nintendo game ever and Nintendo games have always been perceived as technically competent and polished and Scarlet and Violet is anything but.

I wouldn't want to be in the Game Freak offices right now heads are probably rolling.

To add to this games back then with cartridges/disc revisions usually fixed a lot less then modern updates because if a game was a buggy POS they would have to issue a recall and replacement scheme which would be super expensive.

I don't expect a lot from this patch apart from gamebreaking bugs fixed and anything that affects competitive (Duping & the RNG situation). Hopefully that statement means they'll try do performance improvement but we'll see if that ever comes.
Also, the game is really fun despite it's obvious flaws but I don't think it deserves the hate for some poor framerate at launch considering what other games can get away with.

Literally release a new cart/disc to retail with the patched version on it that replaces the old version on the shelf. If the bug is that egregious, they’ll offer some other way to get the patch like with the Berry Glitch in Gen III or the Skyward Sword bug.

I honestly hope that they are mad at both gamefreak and the pokemon company and put more oversight on them. (primarily in the sense of forcing pokemon company to delay, and or add more staff)
But I doubt it. Pokemon seems to get special treatment.

You guys really think Nintendo is hands off with Pokémon? They pump out games so frequently now, I'd be surprised if Ninty isn't already crunching Gamefreak.
They are, or seems to be. Otherwise it wouldn't have shipped the way it did. Every single first party game developed in house (at Nintendo specifically, IED and other dev branches)
generally is leagues better in quality and polish. While with Pokemon, it has been consistently less polished, every time.
