Wood Firmwares - Complete information guide & downloads

The section "Main" contains the official supported software from YWG.
These are the most updated version and should be used whenever possible for your card.

The section "Community" contains firmwares maintained by the community.
These firmwares are based on a older source code of Wood RPG (1.25 gpl), meaning the game support of them is less and can vary.

Use the "Flashcart Compatibility List" to choose the correct firmware for your flashcard.

This is a list of currently tested flashcards with the currently known firmware.
Please note that even if your flashcard is assigned to a firmware, it might still not work.
It would be very much appriciated that if you've tested this software on a not-yet-recorded flashcard, to share the information with us!.

THIS GUIDE IS PREDOMINANTLY FOR INSTALLING WOOD ON R4 FLASHCARDS
IF YOU USE A FIRMWARE FOR ANOTHER FLASHCARD, THE INSTALLATION METHOD COULD BE DIFFRENT

Before starting, install a file archiver program such as 7-Zip or WinRAR.
You might already have a file called "_DS_MENU.DAT" on your flashcard if you use another firmware, in that case you have to back that up and use the one provided with Wood, or leave it out the installation and use a .NDS boot file to load into Wood R4. (download these in the topic)



Download a appropiate version of Wood R4 (latest)
Extract the archive.
Copy both "_rpg" folder and the "_DS_MENU.DAT" file onto the root of your SD card.



Turn on your Nintendo DS and load into the Wood firmware.
Press "START" and go to "Settings". (Press A)
On "User interface style" use left or right and select the skin. (Press A)
Then it asks: "Save current settings?" (Press A)
After that it says that it needs to restart to change it! (Press A)
Now wait for Wood R4 to restart!

Turn on your DS and load the Wood R4 firmware.
Then press "START" and go to "Settings". (Press A)
Now press (R) 3x and go to "Patches"
On "Cheats in Game(AR)" use left or right to enable cheats! (Press A)
Then it asks: "Save current settings?" (Press A)

Now select a game and press (Y).
Then you are at "File Information" press (Y) again.
Now press (R) and you'll go to "Features".
On "Cheats in Game(AR)" use left or right to enable or disable cheats. (Press A)
Then it asks: "Save current settings?" (Press A)

3.
Now select a game and press (Y).
Then you are at "File Information" press (X)
Select here your cheats and choose your options by selecting the cheats with (A)

• Press (A) to expand branch!
• Press (Y) to display the cheat information!

Press (X) to save the selected cheats,
Now it generates a .CC file, Pleas Wait!
Now launch the game!

This firmware based on Wood R.P.G. firmware 1.04. So the same compatibility level and similar features except:
1. Soft-reset doesn't work at the moment. Will be fixed.
2. Bypass protection option doesn't work. Cart limitation.
3. If you change language or/and skin firmware doesn't restart automatically. Will be fixed.
4. Sources not released. Because this is one day hack. Then sources will put in order it will released. For free

Q: How do I install this onto my R4?

Q: How do I add my own cheats?
A: You can download the usrcheats.dat file and place it in this folder:
R:\__rpg\cheats.

Q: How can I add my own themes?
A: Once you find a theme of your liking, place it in this folder:
"R:\__rpg\ui"

Q: How do I switch themes?
A: You switch theme by going into Start>Settings>System Settings Tab.

Q: What themes does this cart use?
A: All Acekard 2/2.1/2i themes should work.

Q: My sav files aren't working! What do I do?
A: Change the ".sav" or ".SAV" into ".nds.sav"
NOTE: Since v1.18, Wood has .sav extension support!

Q: Can I use an SDHC?
A: Yes you can, but you have to use WAIO.

Q: Can I hide the __rpg folder?
A: Yes.

Q: The Clock/Calender doesn't work!
A1: For the theme clock/calendar problem, there is sort of fix for that. Don't know if it fixes every theme though, but it has for a few that I've tried.
Place these 4 files (clock_colon.bmp, clock_numbers.bmp, day_numbers.bmp, year_numbers.bmp) into a folder named "calendar" within the theme folder.
A2: There's a .ini file named "uisettings" into the theme folder, open it.
Then you should find 4 times "show = 0"
Change it all to "show = 1" if you haven't! Your calendar/time should now be appearing.

Q: The cheat list is blank! I added USRCHEAT.DAT to the correct folder!
A: Your skin might be messing with the color of the font, making it the same color as the background , try changing the skin. (the Black skin that comes default with the Wood R4 has this issue.)

Q: Does this have Wii Compatibility?
A: Yes.

Q: When I try to boot Slot-2, I just get two white screens.
A: Update to Wood v1.06 or newer.

Q: What does pressing "X" do?
A: It takes you to your favourites.
