I ended up buying despite the reviews regarding performance and I'm glad I did. I've only had two crashes, no bugs, and while it doesn't look spectacular it's by far the best Pokemon game in regards to every other aspect except clothing choice, and maybe SwSh edges it out in music a little. Great monster and character designs, good writing, tutorial is only sixty minutes most of which is worldbuilding and then you can go wherever you want. If you really really can't stand 20FPS just play on emulator.

As someone who grew up with a pal N64 and the first computer for videogames having been a shitty laptop struggling to run Morrowind at 30 fps, I've absolutely no issues with the performance of those games. I play it on a lite and I'm having a great time. The issues like shadow pop in and frame rate dips are entirely irrelevant to my enjoyment of finally having a true open world pokemon the way I'd hoped we get back for the n64 when they announced pokemon would finally be in 3D.

So far all I've encountered in issues were purely cosmetic and did nothing to impede game play, and a lot less of an issue like most TES games had shortly after release.

I'd personally suggest emulate it for an hour or two to figure out if you like the game, and if so buy it. While I won't accept anything less than perfectly stable frame rates for stuff like racing games and shooters that hinge on split second reaction pokemon is so slow paced it's entirely inconsequential that the frame rate drops at some points. You're not going to miss a dodge, fail a jump, or take a bullet because of it.

Edit: otherwise the game is pretty good, you explore, you catch Pokemon, you beat up other people, rinse and repeat. The clothing choices are bad but that's about the only thing I genuinely dislike so far. Otherwise it's finally a nice experience where picking up an item doesn't take a minute telling you what you picked up and where you shoved a thousand times in a row.

The complaints about performance are completely justified/real, but personally I had a great time regardless. I think it's fine to hold Nintendo/GF to a high standard due to the popularity of the franchise, but I think it's wrong to say they didn't try. There's a lot of heart/soul put into the game's world and design. If I were to ignore the performance issues, this would be one of my favorite generations so far. the only other thing I need now is a rom hack to make the game more difficult and include more Pokémon/remove version restrictions.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, despite the performance issue. To me, it's worth the price and worth playing. If you're a fan of the series, I don't see how you can hold out. Software bugs can be fixed, but typically performance has to be considered up front; it's too late for that in this game. Unless it's a matter of principle to you, and you want to let the big N know that they have to do better before releasing their games. If you like the game/the series, play it for it's entertainment value; the other stuff can be overlooked.

Just long enough to know it was installed correctly and would run on my current system without requiring an update to the firmware.

Downloaded it on my friend's modded switch to check it out, played it for like an hour then just... moved on.
Like, not getting any excited much thinking about playing it, I guess.
I did quite enjoy the aspect of being able to run around freely and seeing the various wild pokès around, but aside that... is just another pokèmon game, like... whatever.

I finished Scarlet today, and I have to say that despite the issues, I have been enjoying the game. The stories in the game have a lot of charm and are def better than previous Pokemon games (other than Gen5 and the MD games.) The gameplay is also pretty damn fun with a lot of exciting elements, fucking love raiding Team Star bases. There are a lot of good elements to the games, just hoping we see some updates that bring the polish they so desperately need.
