If you ever decide that you don't need it brand new, and are in the US, you could try occasionally checking Buya: https://www.buya.com/Model/Details/NINTENDO-SWITCH-HANDHELD-HAC-001/83be14d552a743fc9cfceace7728f205
It's a site where pawn shops try to sell their items that either have been on the shelf unsold for too long, or are at high risk of being stolen/robbed before getting sold (hot product, so to speak). At least 300 pawn shops nationwide participate in the site, and I once bought a Wii U from there. They are 100% legit.
Oftentimes you can call (or sometimes message) the selling store and ask for the serial number, and may find a hackable used one for only $250, with likely scratches and dents. Very well worth the trouble if you ask me.

See original Switch's all the time on FB marketplace dirt cheap, almost like the owners have no idea they're hackable.
He would have to message the seller first to ask when they bought it. If it was purchased after June 2018 then it's probably patched, even if it's not the extended battery life revision.

It's not like sellers on Aukro or eBay list the S/N in their post.

I would preferably purchase a new, unopened low-S/N switch without much of a markup from MSRP.

Can someone give links?
You could try searching the Facebook Marketplace for brand new pre-modded OLED Switches. Last time I checked, they were pretty easy to find. I should have gone down that path myself. Christmas is coming up so you'll probably get some money to spend.

Sure they will not have a problem doing that.

I went on eBay, searched for 'unbanned/unpatched Nintendo switch' and found a ton of listings. I found one with good ratings and went ahead and purchased it. It worked for me and now I've got a hacked switch. Of course, discretion is advised-- but it seems pretty fool-proof to me.

eBay is always the best option to find unpatched Switches.

The only cheap one on eBay from Europe isn't BIN so I can get easily outbidded, and the BIN ones require you to pay a premium.

This one from Cyprus is $700.

And I won't bother with anything outside of Europe, because then I have to pay customs and I want nothing to do with customs or anything like that.

The cheapest BIN from Europe has $70 shipping tacked on a $350 price.

I would say that's a rip off, but you do need to understand that ebay takes 15%, and the shipping, if free, is another expense. these people aren't necessarily trying to rip you off, but that's generally the reason prices are so high. I'd suggest using facebook marketplace.

don't know what to tell you then. the price of those things keeps going up, so you may need to overlook the price and just buy.

Wow, I can print money! Thank you, I never realized! I might as well just buy the RTX4090, a whole crate of them! Why live in this house? Let's purchase an entire mansion with 100 rooms and 20 different pools and whirlpools! That's how easy that is, right?

My family has to financially recover from me buying a Steam Deck as the ONLY christmas gift. There's no way I can just come to my parents and say "hey, I want this low serial console, it costs $500" without getting a 2 hour long lecture about the value of money.

I apologize for being this arrogant but you just have to understand how painful is this for me, ESPECIALLY with switch emulators refusing to work on AMD GPUs.

As I said already, the seller NEEDS to be from europe as I want nothing to do with customs.

Literally there's loads of Switches. If you can't find one that has "unpatched" in it, check to see if the Switch in question has a lower serial number judging by the images of the listing.
