How many people got rid of their latest gen system and went back to a Xbox 360 or PS3?

From Wii U to switch, back to Wii U
Why? I like the gamepad better, the online isn't a subscription, the emulation capabilities are great, virtual console is great, and Yuzu perfectly runs pretty much every switch title I'm interested now in if I want to try it anyway.

Does it count if you’re still playing the newer systems games via emulation? Because you haven’t completely abandoned the platform to go back to the previous one.

I play 3DS and vita occasionally, but never abandoned my switch, the trickle of games is yet to run dry.

Like for example playing Batman Blackgate, that I missed back then, to mourn the memory of the best batman.

There is also the PC, ultimate gaming platform that will surpass all time and our civilization as we know it.

I raise my ✋.
So why did you ditch it and go back?

My question is why you would go back?

i get that the xbox360/ps3 game era had better games, but the current hardware and OS on the Series X/Series S is unbeatable. I could never go back to pre SSD days and having to wait minutes for a game to load instead of seconds.

Also all of the xbox 360 library is playable on current gen so I don't understand the purpose of this?

No I did not go back.

I never left.

Various friends had PS4s, xbones and the like. I played them and still do when they are around. Some minor amusement there but nothing like I was enjoying for the 360 at the time, at the time of its death, and even now still with cheap games (though prices are going up). Now the PS4 and xbone are dead I am even having a hard time doing what was my previous model of buy it at the end of the system lifetime*. About all I would probably do with those is get the nice compilation games that bring the games of the PS360 onto then new consoles with all the DLC and maybe a performance bump.

*can I get 10 xbone/PS4 games that I will want to play in 10 years, maybe a few more if they did something interesting to either introduce a new mechanic or evolve it. I can do that trivially for the PS360 or anything preceding it (maybe even the N64).

I've been enjoying my hacked 360, and gaining more appreciation for that generation, but the older consoles were really rough. Ps3 games run at like 20fps, the 360 UI is clunky and runs poorly, load times are atrocious, etc.

I've been playing a lot more ps3 and vita for the sake of trophy hunting, though, and it's fun. Take the good with the bad.

I do play the wiiu quite often, but I never play the 360 or the ps3. they're testing consoles now. I've interested in trophies and achievements now ironically, but I play such games on the ps5. I played next to nothing on the ps4, so it's like I'm discovering these old, yet new, games after so much time of not playing.

Back to the PS3? I would never do that. I had so many issues with that badly-dissipated junk:nayps3:.

All other non-Sony old consoles are my day-to-day to be honest. As FAST said I never truly left, I still play lots of cool games on my 3DS and WiiU, especially when friends come to my place. The only truly next-gen thing I have is my PC (which, even though more than capable to run almost anything, I use to play KoTOR 2, Skyrim and New Vegas)

Literally couldn't! Around the time I got the PS4, the PS3's bluetooth receiver gave out (common problem for the super slims). I later cannibalized some parts from the DS3 when my DS4 had issues.

The only time I'd ever go back is for system exclusives... the majority of which are PS2/PS1 classics (after all, PS3 haz no gamez..)

I have a 1tb ssd in my 360. You said it yourself. Better games. I dont need better graphics. I need something that I can rely on and want to play.

I see what you are saying. That would be acceptable if you are only using it for older titles.

I love the ps1/2. I have my ps2 slim that gets lots of love. 360 is great for hacking halo games to have customized weapons and my ultimate fav is 4 player co-op mod for halo 1 and 2 for orig xbox on my 360. That way everyone can get in on some co-op action of the classics!

I am so ahead of you, because I never even went to the next gen consoles myself. My Wii (formerly also my WiiU) and 3DS are still going strong. Nothing on either of the 3 main, current gen consoles is interesting to me. Instead, I'm more interested in the games I missed out on cuz I didn't own a PS4 or Xbox One.

I never opened my XBOX Series X because my PC has better guts, so the XBOX will most likely end up sold. I do have a Switch and other older systems like the PS3, though what I play most is my Nintendo Wii U lately, and that has a large part to do with the fact that it can play Gamecube games at nearly double the original frame rate sometimes, and it can play them in wide screen. On top of that I have access to all my favorite DS (not DSi) games, which I can play on a large screen and the tablet controller, as opposed to two tiny handheld screens. Also most modern games don't appeal to me anyhow. I'm 47, I've seen it all, and a lot of what is coming out today seems like a rehash of what came before but with less character, soul, and originality, though but with better graphics that I can honestly live without.

Quite a waste for it to be sitting around in its box, may as well sell it.
