Buy digital games and stay on FW4.50?

Hi,

I have a PSN account already set (from before I decided to go offline) but never bought anything with it. Now I would like to add credit to it and buy Street Fighter IV (no physical version available for PS4/5).

Is there a way to do that while staying on FW4.50?

I thought I saw something last year about a custom DNS (or blocking Sony’s update URLs at router level)?… Has anyone tried that?

you can block updates or play with DNS but simply you need the latest firmware (sometimes the second latest one) to connect to the PSN store and download the game... which is not possible with version 4.50.

It would be ideal if you could update to the latest firmware, then download everything you need and then downgrade to a lower version of the firmware....Unfortunately, nothing like that is currently possible...at least not publicly...and private things are too secretive .

maybe one public solution is

get a second console, one will be offline and one online with the latest firmware

This game is on many different platforms if you want to play it they are all the same aside from resolution differences and slight input lag differences. But if you just have a PS5 then yeah will have to update the PS5.

Ultra Street Fighter IV is the latest version.

If it's only for Street Fighter IV I think that the best is to buy it for PC for a few €. Moreover the online game on pc is free
