More detailed graphics, high resolution menu and portraits, optimised for widescreen.
Compatible: USA / Undub
Version 0.7 Beta

Install:

Download the latest Pcsx2 nightly build (v1.7.2404 +).
2. Extract the folder to the pcsx2 texture folder (...\Pcsx2\textures\SLUS-20488\replacements). (Disc 2 is SLUS-20891)
SSD recommended!
If you want 4:3 or the new portraits, than overwrite the "Portraits" and "Status_images" folders from the Optional folder.
3. Config / Graphics Settings / Advanced tab:
Load Texture: ON
Async Texture Loading: ON
4. Have fun!

Hey, just grabbed the textures and I'm wondering why are the menu portraits not lined up? I'm using the 16:9 ones.

Oh, I will try to fix this. I made an updated pack, deleted all glitched portrait images.

Dumb question, but what does disk 2 being incomplete necessarily entail? Will there be a part in disc 2 where all the textures will drop in quality, or is disk 2 untouched in the download and that just represents your own progress with it? Wanted to know what to expect if I can't wait and want to jump in with the current release.

looks really good. I tried playing this on the ps5 via the ps4 version, but the damn thing has crashed on me twice. I'm not sure if the original has issues such as that, but it's damn frustrating.

Nah the crashing got added in the remaster. Was a big annoyance on the PS4 version and it sounds like playing it on the PS5 doesn't fix that.

yeah, there's even a message on the ps5 that says the game could have unpredictable results. it's the only game I've seen with that message.

Yikes yeah I've never seen that before. That remaster made all the face models have a creepy doll like feel to them as well so it seems like it may have just been a lackluster port with some AI upscaling thrown on.

I can't believe it's still offered on psn. they should've removed it till this crashing issue had been fixed. I doubt it ever will be at this point.

I remember GameFAQs threads on the PS4 version going back to 2018 of people asking if a patch would be released to address the crashing. So I wouldn't hold your breath.

Progress report!

This project is sadly on hold, I can't finish this alone. The problem: this game needs at least 2 full playthrou to complete. So, if someone really likes SO3, and want to help me with collect the missing textures and images, please PM me!

I put this project on ice because I am stuck in the 2nd disk. I really hate this game's battle system and lost my motivation. If someone want to help with the texture dumping I will revive the poject.

Somewhere in the begining of the second disk.

If you can redump textures from the 1st disk too, it would be a big help. I think there are many new hash code since the emulator update. Just run throu the towns and dungeons.

How does this work, do the textures show up in the files from loading in game? Im gonna try for 100% battle trophy and I might as well help if I can.

Enable the Dump textures option in the Graphics settings, and that's it.

It will dumps every texture from the ram to the hdd. If you can send me those dumps, I would be very grateful for it!

Unfortunately I think im gonna have to cancel. Only half way through disc 1 and the folder size is 50gb, I have about 77gb space left. Not sure if something if going wrong most files look like this
