You could always use Etcher (like I did) for flashing the zzBlank.img file to your micro SD card... It provides an excellent, simple alternative to Win32DiskImager (which isn't even available for Mac) and unnecessary terminal work. ;)
Thank you so very much Uumas! I'm restoring my flashcard atm, everything is going smoothly thus far. :) They REALLY NEED to specify on 3ds guide the difference between the system SD and the flashcard SD... That would have saved me so much time and trouble, lol.
There is no internal SD card whatsoever, if there is it is hidden pretty damn well. lol

I mean, there is an internal card but I have no idea how to get to it on my 3DS. The new Samus edition I have doesn't have a spot where it's visibly accesible.
I recently picked up the new Samus edition 3DS XL and an R4i Gold 3DS RTS flashcard. After finally getting my SD card formatted properly (which was a pain in itself), I proceeded to install ntrboot with no issues. After the install I powered my DS off then put the boot9strap files on my SD card...
