Gaming More Worms for the DS

Just tried the first Open Warfare out the other day...what a disappointment. I hope they don't just slap Wi-Fi on it and call it a sequel. At the very least, it needs a total interface re-haul and bug fixes. I'm just glad they kept it to 2D rather than trying to make another 3D rendition (not...

    Quake DS Prerelease 2

Got this working with no problems on both a G6 Lite and M3 Lite. Can't wait for ad-hoc DS-DS play, and maybe the ability to use the RAM on slot-2 carts.

Hacking G6 DS Real Vs...who cares!

As far as I know the 1gig version was never released. That being said, 512MB has been plenty for me, but I can understand those that might need/want more.

Hacking I successfully replaced the G6lite battery

Also, can you give a link to the battery that you purchased? I see a lot of different brands for CR1220's, and want to compare the ones I see to what you got.

Hacking I successfully replaced the G6lite battery

I've had a dead battery since I bought mine. I got the Chinese version before the English version was available, so I decided to just deal with it rather than shipping back to China and hoping for a replacement. It works fine as long as I always soft-reset before turning it off. I would...

    ROM Hack QuakeDS Pre-release 2

This and DSDoom have been bringing back a lot of memories for me - it's crazy how many secrets I still remember as I go through the levels. Can't wait for the ad-hoc DS/DS gaming

    ROM Hack QuakeDS Pre-release 2

Stumbled across a thread on the M3 forums: http://www.m3-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=8410 Looks like either you don't need to patch QuakeDS for the CF version, or the DLDI driver has problems with it

    ROM Hack QuakeDS Pre-release 2

I've gotten it to work on both my G6 Lite and M3 Lite using the following methods. Please not I have no idea if capitalization matters for this release, but I renamed everything lowercase, just in case: 1. Create a folder in the root of your sd card/flash cart named 'id1' 2. Copy pak0.pak and...

    Hacking Chinese to English?

I haven't specifically asked, but I do remember the question popping up to the G6 team when the Chinese version was first released. If I remember correctly, they said that because of the different market structures, the regions were priced at different levels. Thus, if they allowed people to...

    Hacking Chinese to English?

You can run old firmware (I believe 4.0beta) which will give you english menus, but if you want to run the latest firmware, you're stuck with Chinese. I'm in the same situation as you - the interface is pretty intuitive, so I don't mind the Chinese.

Hacking Soft reset, compression & charging questions

For what it's worth, these were my observations while troubleshooting my battery (see my topic): 1. My battery indicator always showed 2 out of 4 bars 2. I charged the G6 Lite in the USB Burner overnight, and did not charge my DS Lite 3. In the morning, I put the G6 Lite back in and the...

Hacking Is my internal battery dead?

Picked what option? You mean the ability to soft reset? I'm not complaining about the ability to soft reset, but rather the necessity to do so. The battery is supposed to be rechargeable. Mine just doesn't seem to be working. The battery is supposed to keep the SRAM from clearing so that I can...

Hacking Is my internal battery dead?

I'm using a chinese G6 Lite with v4.1b software on it. I've had it for nearly 2 weeks and I've never been able to save in a game, turn off the DS, and have the save written when turning it back on. The only way to get the "saving data ... please do not turn power off" (I don't know the english...

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
