Just run a Linux version from a USB thumb drive to see it. That way it won't mess your laptop hd.

You can use the same USB drive, install Linux on it to test, then just reformat it back later to use on ps3

Go into legacy bios and see if they have the option to boot from usb before anything it won't change anything
