    the anet seemed to be popular as i saw a lot of prints for mods/improvements and such specifically for that, but maybe there were just so many because it really needed those mods to be any good

    i know very little about it outside of that but i really couldn't recommend saving $30 going with a brand like that over anycubic or elegoo which at least have a somewhat decent reputation

    Anet A8 was an... okay printer for its time like a decade ago. But it's got unreliable hardware and no thermal runaway protections built into the firmware, so while you'll *probably* be fine, if something goes wrong, you're looking at a fire.

    Cheap printers have come a LONG way in the past 2 years

    i like core xy now cause they take up less space for the same amount of build volume or bigger build volume in the same amount of space, and you can place it against a wall which you can't with a bed slinger
