    I have an early version wii and have used crappy disks for a long time, i gues that the cheap disks killed the laser. Ok then ill buy an new laser Is the ebay one any good ?

    It's easy to spot if you look at the head of the screw and even easyer to spot with an microscope... But they only check the console if they suspect that it may have been messed with, if it's an known problem they just send out an new one without even looking at it.

    Nintendo will notice that the console has been opened no matter how carefull you are, trust me. What they will do if you send in an Wii with modchip inside or modchip taken out, is that they gonna charge you 50£ for an repair. I would have done that if i where you!

    Yes they will repair it for you, but not for free... Im 100% sure they will notice that it have been opned up, it's pretty easy to see if you look carefully om the skrews.

    I think it as simple as upgrade to the latest firmware thru the settings then upgrade with the game. Worked perfect for me PAL DMS WII Connected with wifi Ofcourse this dosent help the one's that allready bricked it...

    Does no harm calling them! Just make sure you say at you where playing a orginal imported from usa, and you installed a Chip to play it.

    @Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.

    Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

    @Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

    Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
