    Got it working, thank you Porobu and Rydian! FYI, after that freezing at 35% I had to shut it off after waiting 30+ minutes. Upon restart I got two white screens. I had an R4 lying around so used that to launch the fw update. I knew keeping this original R4 would come in handy some day. ;)

    I'm sorry, when you say "copy the update file to another working flashcard" do you mean another AK2i? It would make more sense to me if you meant another microSD card and put it back into the AK2i I'm trying to update. Please confirm what you mean. Thanks.
