  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
then you're gonna get a piece of crap that works about as well as an inkjet printer from the 90s @Psionic Roshambo
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
these things are a lot more complex than ordinary printers
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i like core xy now cause they take up less space for the same amount of build volume or bigger build volume in the same amount of space, and you can place it against a wall which you can't with a bed slinger
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    they do cost more though
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Building a coreXY machine now and can't get the fucking belt tension right
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but they finally started gaining some traction and became affordable
  • handy333 @ handy333:
[Again sorry for the aside] IT DID COME WITH ONE!

Anyways, I didn't know these printers were that cheap. I always thought they were for businesses and stuff.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they used to cost big $$$
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
They can still cost a lot. Depending on what you want.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@handy333 what businesses use is an entirely different class of 3d printer (unless they run print farms then they just use the cheapest reliable commodity consumer 3d printers they can get)
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they have fancy ones that print with powder in full color and shit
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Yeah even hobbyist/enthusiast grade ones can get expensive as hell. The Voron Trident I'm building now I'm probably close to $1500 in the hole with
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    or metal
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
ANd it doesn't even work yet
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the k1 max came preassembled and it was like $900 msrp and just works :P
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Or chocolate
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i paid more because norway tax but yknow
  • handy333 @ handy333:
Is there any possibility of me recycling plastic with a printer? Is there a printer out there that can do that?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@handy333, give up that idea now. It's not worth it, trust me.
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
filament extruders are a thing, but probably not worth the hassle
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
PLA doesn't recycle particularly well and that's most of what people print with
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you can recycle it once, MAYBE twice
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and it's a lot of hassle
  • handy333 @ handy333:
Oh well. I was trying to help the planet survive another year
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
The closest thing you can do is build a machine to cut PET water/juice bottles into plastic strips and form it into filament. I've done this, it's a neat project just for the hell of it but it will never pay off.
