    I too had this problem until I got the amazing sennheiser cx300 ear phones. Not cheap (70 bucks) but allow me to watch shows on the subway, in coffee shops, etc. Great sound for my iPod too. Get 'em.

    Bookreader is by far the best IMHO. http://www.bookreader.co.uk runs in GBA mode. Easily change background colour (I like white text on black background). Instant bookmark (turn off, and you'll be back to the same spot when you read again). Have read 6 or 7 books in last 4 months using it...

    I see you MSPaint, and raise you this: In theory then you wont have to worry about voltage differences. I just wonder if the battery charger thing has a voltage converter in it which would mess things up.

    Either my internal battery is getting old, or I'm using my DSLite more, but the battery isn't lasting as long as it used to. So, a way of charging on the go is a good idea, but there's a lack of any real external battery options available. I know you can buy a second battery, and just unscrew...

    Huh? Then how does the DS red light come on then? Anyhow, the fact that there isn't a homebrew app around to do this msut mean that it's probably not possible, or at least not easy.

    On that note, anyone know of a homebrew app to check the battery level? Yeah I know you can use the built in version in the DS main startup, but it only has, what, 4 bars - hardly detailed! I could really do with a % meter or something. I realise that this will be at best a estimate, but better...

    Hacking Ebook

    BookReader is by far the best IMHO: Bookreader Works in GBA mode and is much better than the built in software (using M3 at least). Have used it to read like 10 books in the last 2 or 3 months.
