  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@kijetesantakalu042, Depends on if your PC could do it. There are settings to use the CPU natively and adjust the graphics memory which does quite improve it a bit.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Just look at the amount of SteamDeck nerds out there that know how to use it ;O
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Plazorn, and I don't think my PC has a wsl
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    It has a hamster
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
But why go through the effort of having Linux inside of a VM, whereas you could have a multiboot installation or replace your pre-existing OS with Linux.

  • kijetesantakalu042 @ kijetesantakalu042:
@SylverReZ I have all of the speed options enabled. Also 512 gb ssd pain

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, It requires installing an update to enable WSL in Win 10/11.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Only thing I gotta do with this laptop is put in a 2tb ssd came with 512 🤮

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, I might just try it on a live USB and then install it with multiboot
  • kijetesantakalu042 @ kijetesantakalu042:
I only have one ssd slot
  • Izanagi_No_Okami @ Izanagi_No_Okami:
@K3Nv2 Can you switch SSD in laptops? I thought they were soldered in most of the times
  • kijetesantakalu042 @ kijetesantakalu042:
Maybe it'd be faster if I didn't use kde plasma
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
@Izanagi_No_Okami, look at specs before buying usually says emc or something

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Or on board storage
  • Izanagi_No_Okami @ Izanagi_No_Okami:
@K3Nv2 Didn't know that, thought they were always soldered in
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Nah just depends on model and manufacturer

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Izanagi_No_Okami, You can, but best to look at the specs before buying them. Some have eMMC chips soldered to the mobo that you cannot remove without hot air, and unpopulated SATA ports.
  • Izanagi_No_Okami @ Izanagi_No_Okami:
    @K3Nv2
Yeah makes sense, not an expert on laptops
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Best to spend an extra 200 on upgradeable slots
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'd still be happy probably you can't find a 4050 6gb laptop for 500 that often
  • Izanagi_No_Okami @ Izanagi_No_Okami:
    @SylverReZ Kinda sucks, I
'll keep that in mind for when I'll have to buy a new laptop for my mom.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Just watch a review on YouTube 80% chance someone's taken it apart
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, is it fine if I use this program to try a live session? I see it's discontinued https://www.linuxliveusb.com/
  • Izanagi_No_Okami @ Izanagi_No_Okami:
@K3Nv2 Thank you, I'll keep that in mind
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I usually just put the model number in youtube and it pops up in a minute good buyers advice for anyone looking at something new
