With my nerves I'd probably shoot my eye out
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, I will say, while it is a concern, statistically speaking there is such a miniscule chance anything would ever happen to or even near you. However, some states (like mine, New Jersey) have much stricter gun laws than a lot of the rest of the country and that leads to even significantly lower chances of any issues
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Sicklyboy, Speaking of new jersey, why do americans hate that state?
    +1
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Like in my state it is rare to see anyone with a gun that isn't law enforcement, at least when out in public. other states though it is legal for you to own and carry a gun out in the open with no registration, licensing, anything, and in those places a lot of people will do that then
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, New Jersey hate - high cost of living, highest population density in the country, historically a lot of chemical manufacturing occurred in NJ so there is a lot of environmental cleanup sites throughout the state now (cleanup supported by federal government, called a "superfund site"), and New Jersey is a politically left leaning state, close to New York City, and as such is often caught up as being seen as part of "the liberal elite"
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
A lot of it is just ball-busting and sarcasm though, in reality nobody really hates NJ more than any other state, or even really cares tbh
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus jersey is mostly corn field so not much to do
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I think you're confusing NJ with like Iowa or Nebraska lol
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Sicklyboy, I was asking bc I recall a lot of american tv shows and cartoons mocking it
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Notably, the report found that 61% of New Jersey's farmland is considered 'nationally significant' for food and crop production with little environmental impact. Each state needs to secure a critical mass of high-quality farmland to ensure that its food system is resilient in the face of extreme disruptions.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Iirc a good amount of popular tubers are from Jersey
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, we get called "the armpit of america" because if you look at the northeast USA sticking up to the right as an arm, it's like we're in the arm pit lol. Also partly due to the aforementioned chemical issues here https://imgur.com/ncuLe7V

I like NJ though, despite the high cost of living I am looking to buy a house here still, don't want to move to another state

After all these years, I have found it
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
There are a lot of things codified into law and written in to our state constitution here, which is (to me) a good thing to have as the political landscape in the USA shifts further and further right
