Informations regarding EWIN2 flastcarts:

1) Availability: Early July

2) Price: Around 200RMB (USD25). This is of course China's internal pricing, international pricing would be higher.

3) EWIN2 will have 3 versions, differenciated by the type of external storage (SD, MiniSD & Transflash version).

4) There might be extra versions without GBA support. As similiarly seen on M3 Pro.

5) EWIN2 has almost perfect GBA compatibility. NDS compatibility is higher than those of EZ4. Currently there are 8 ROMs incompatible with EZ4, EWIN2 only has 2 incompatible ROMs. EWIN2 is working on 100% compatiblity before launch.

6) EWIN2 will have a high quality casing. It will have a "glossy" finish similiar to the surface of the DS lite.

The pic above shows an engineering sample of the EWIN2 MiniSD version.

I have the original Ewin and I can say that the build quality is exceptional. Very well put together, it feels like a quality product with the exception that there really isn't any English support anymore.

Great if you're chinese, but not so great for everyone else.

Opium, or anyone else who has experience with ewin for that matter. I have a couple questions, first although there isn't any english support anymore can you still get updates for the cards? Also what are the saves like? Do you have to turn the system off and on in order to completely save?

Thanks!

I agree with Opium that the eWin was supprisinly a great cart to own and the quality is by far the best I have owned. It basically opperates like a EZ-Flash II but runs off their own version of pogoshell that I still cant figure out how to edit. Long file name support and the ability to change roms at random. It even had or has a better DS patcher (I havent used it in a while since I have dedicated DS carts) The only bad thing is the support, I have no idea where to get the latest updates, the site is down last time I checked. but besides that the build and operations are top quality with a great price.

so no real dustcover size, a bit disappointing, its even bigger than the EZ4 Lite... (even though they said it would fit flush). it just seems impossible to fit a MicroSD adapter into a dustcover-sized flash card. actually i'm quite sceptical if M3 Lite or SC Lite will really achieve this...

G6 Lite for me, i think...

I agree with you,
but I must admit that this Ewin 2 lite looks a lot nicer than EZ4 lite

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.

    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
