Kept saying I'd do it but never did. Now I'm finally going to do it.

Anyway, checked my wires, they're yellow so I have a liteon drive. The console itself will be a year old this November. Haven't opened it up yet to check for an exact ID.

Is it true that I'm going to need some connectivity kit? I thought it was just a straight forward sata cable to my mobo (or sata card) and the drive being powered by the 360. It's been months since I read about this stuff so I've forgotten a lot about it.

If I do need some more hardware (ugh), can someone hook me up with some prices?

If it is a year old and yellow wires (and MS has not yet had it returned) it will be one of the earlier liteon drives (they started showing up in June of that year) which means a 7 series liteon.

You will need a probe and something to power the drive as sjones900 says, I am UK and have a kit (presently in East Anglia although I do wander a bit from time to time) so if you want I can either flash your drive (or dump your keys if you want to flash it yourself) or send you my kit if you want to do it all yourself.
Basically as long as I do not end up out of pocket (you spring for any shipping involved) I do not care.

If you want to buy it then I quite liked redboxmods the other month when I was sorting things out.

If you are more electronically inclined then http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=668247 which can be done for hardly anything.

If you already red up on flashing 360 drives before then http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=174016 might be of some use.

Ah right, I see.

I wouldn't mind purchasing a kit, but it'd have to be for no more than £20. I've already spent quite a bit of money in the last week on various things.

I wouldn't mind paying for shipping if you were up for lending me your kit. Send me a PM and I can give you my MSN if you're interested. I'll make sure you get your stuff back in one piece.
