I hope they will eventually bring all the games to PC, even though i don't like the artwork made for the gacha game that ended up on the Star Ocean The First Depature remaster, i preferred the original PSP artwork for the game.
Anyway, good franchise, filled with mechanics and stuff to do, encourages multiple playthroughs, i recommend it if you havent played them yet.

Star ocean?

I have one of those games on my nintendo switch. Is quite difficult to be honest. Those battles just seem very poorly designed in my opinion. Glad this new one don't seem to be anything like the old ones. I dislike rpg games where they basically make it so you're forced to spend time fighting weaker monsters, not getting a lot of exp to level up faster to keep the pace going. It's a ACTION game, so why does it feel like my stats still matter more than my skill to control the character. :ninja:

SO6 will hopefully be the game SO5 (Star Ocean lite) should have been. This one probably really needs to succeed for there to be a guaranteed future for the series. When Tales went 3D, it was kind of like a poor man's Star Ocean and now the situation has been completely flipped.

you can preorder this game already on the psn store. there's a digital deluxe version of the game, but do the ingame items you get exist anywhere in the actual game? it's $75. plus, it only lists the ps5, unless I missed where it mentions the ps4.

Besides the lazy mouth animations not matching the dubbing, and the dubbing sounding terrible, the game looks very unpolished. The models look and move very weird to me. Like motion capture just wasn't in the budget. The skin also looks very odd. Like some uncanny valley shit. I don't see myself picking this up.

the character models do look like shit, but I'll probably get it, since I'm a star ocean fan. they've really messed things up with the last two entries though. why can't they remake star ocean 2 or something?

Or localize/remake Star Ocean for the Gameboy Color.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
