PS Vita Software update 3.74 Out Today

Thank you Anderxale for the advice. It's the reason why I've signed up for gbatemp. Now it's time to check out if we have anything for PS3's 4.89.

The new account authentication is a PITA.
Even though my PS4 had been in rest mode, it still made me log in again using 2fa... then I had to find and use a generated 'device password' on both my Vita's before I could log in to PSN on them normally.
I can't be bothered to sort it out on my PS3 right now - especially as my PS3 is on the verge of YLoD.

I have a PS Vita fw 3.73 I installed henkaku but didn’t get time to look into downgrading but I plan on doing so eventually, however I still play on my PS Vita quite often, do you recommend I do the update or not?

I wish - it's not as easy as it used to be yesterday.

The FinalHE copies the wrong HEncore over. So the HEncore2 needs to be manually licensed and CMSed over again.

I bet FinalHE will be forked or fixed very soon and it will be easy again.

I recommend Spoofing to 3.74.. There really isn't many games online on vita these days.. Netflix will still work & I'm sure you can still go online without worrying I just think it's curious that both the Ps3 & Vita got updates on the same day...

They all install regular HENkaku.

HEncore was for 3.61 and higher but now...

HEncore2 can be used for 3.65-3.74.



To connect with PSN:

Install iTLS Enso

On a computer or phone
Go to https://www.playstation.com/ and log into your PSN (top right) and set up 2 factor authentication.

On a computer or phone
Go to https://playstation.com/acct/device-password and create a device password for each PS device.

Log in on your Vita - use your email and the new Device Password.


I don't play online - supposedly playing online is different right now (friends appear offline maybe? I don't play online to test).

Actually you had it all right! A fix has been recommended this entire time.

The Devs seem to have it figured a fix 3 days ago. You can get their unofficial build here (FinalHE for 3.74)

I didn't know you had to set up a device password that's different from the 2FA. I was actually using the 2FA for the password, that's why it wasn't logging in.

In a strange way Sony still remembers Vita exists. So much potential, so much wasted.

I'm on 3.60 CFW and don't bother connecting to the internet. I just prefer to play offline.

Out of the loop in regards to modding but does that mean if you grab a 3.60 FW device you can't install the old version of Enso without upgrading first? IIRC 3.65FW didn't support as well as 3.60FW or there were some other issues?

Haven't looked into it for ages nor have I upgraded my old Enso mod because it all works but was thinking of buying another Vita. Looked at the tutorial and workflow is totally different now with apps like h-encore I'd never heard of or used plus mentions of semi permanent etc..

Hello!

What are you trying to accomplish? If just trying to jailbreak, there is an easier way.

Or if you are trying to license HEncore to jailbreak your system manually there is a nice detailed explanation here https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/h-encore
Look for Installation section.

That guide can also be used as a basic guide on licensing software to copy it over user's memory card using QCMA on a non-jailbroken vita.

All the normal tools are updated and released.
Jailbreaking and downgrading is quick and easy again.

Just choose your favorite tutorial.
Updating to 3.74 is fine - most fast tutorials require updating to sign in before Jailbreak and downgrade.

Nope, just change the spoofed firmware version in henkaku settings.

yeah, i thought of this too. spoofing is the best thing to do safest thing anyway.
