Fighting force isn't too slow, you obviously haven't tried changing the settings
It was very slow for me. I don't know if settings would help. In any case I don't like overclocking if that's what you mean.
But yeah it would just be a lot simpler with injection.

Fighting Force is way too slow in retroarch. I don't know what gzdoom is. From the thread I found, it says the performance isn't great.
Correct. Fighting Force 64 runs like crap even tweaking every mupen64plus core config, overclocking to max doesnt help at all. Same for NSO N64. Typical users decides by themselves that some games are "playable/great" just because the game boots, even with clearly stuttering/lag issues here and there or random slowdowns.
If you want to play fighting force just play the ps1 version instead.

Is there going to be more support for the rest of the games that can't boot / run well? Or we should try Lakka / Retroarch?

I have waited forever for CastleVanias and WWF NM. :(

Hope we can help in any way to make that happen.

That's up to others to work on. I abandoned my interest in working on dtz's months ago.

I provided the methods, sheets and forms for other people to work on dtz's themselves and submit them. But interest from others happened to die off just as I lost interest myself. I was interested in it when it was fun, but the fun I had was quickly siphoned away leading me to move my focus onto developing CaVE v2.0. I currently have no plans to return to dtz work, but its not 100% ruled out. For others... I think it was just riding the hype wave of when NSO-N64 was new, and as far as only picking the low hanging fruit.

I check a few unfinished dtz's each update, like I did when I found the Goldeneye was suddenly working better. But thats it.

As for those games... all three boot. So you are waiting for nothing. There are 2 stages of dtz development. Getting a game to boot, and getting it to run well. The boot work is the hard part. But the second part can and SHOULD be done by users. Try different options, reference the cfg options tab of the sheet to help guide you, whatever. You have the tools to figure it out on your own.

As for what I can say of those games. I don't know anything about Castlevania's texture issues. I have worked on LoD a little though, but havent been able to advance it much. All I can say is that setting it to 4MB RAMSizeInGame can at least make some particle effects display something garbled instead of nothing at all. And WWF NM... You can try adjusting TicksPerInst. That may help the audio issues.

Noob question,

How does it work when there's a new update, like now it's up to 2.2.0 I think, with the addition of Mario Golf.
Does the cave manager need to be updated to make the database work with the new version?

Edit:
I found the .json on the site that I think helps with this? I put it in the folder and now I just say update database to 2.2.0 and it should work ?

Edit2:
I thnk it's working, though I'm surprised Mario Golf isn't in there, If I have to add it with the import option for the commercial game, I'm curious why that has to be done when before didn't need to be done ?

Why wouldn't you already be using RA for the games that don't work? You could've been playing them all this time

Whats the deal with CaVE "database updates"?

The FAQ is available both on the website, and via the Help menu inside CaVE.

To answer this and your private message at once. GameShark codes don't have a direct translation to lua or ROM patches. At least, not all of them. GameShark codes tend to be RAM hacks, not ROM. And translated the hooks from some codes to lua isn't easy. I know from experience making the Pokemon Snap lua patch.

Mario Golf update?

It happened on the 15th, or the evening of the 14th for some of us. I posted a update json for cave on the site. I linked how to install and use it above.

Oh man - I can't get it how many people talk about RetroArch here.
That's absolutely not the subject here - this is the CaVE + NSO thread.
Everything else is of no interest here !!!
NSO is the much nicer emu I don't care RA running more games and better.
Some people are interested in trying out and finding new ways to increase compatibility.
Who prefers RA is here more than wrong !
So please stop this unsuitable RA talk here !!!!

BIG thanks again and again and again for @DarkAkuma 's awesome work
building the usefull CaVE and so many DTZ files.

NSO and the cave manager is amazing. And I do want to give props for it, a lot.

I guess just unfortunately certain games do have problems so retroarch can be an alternative until some meta data files might make it better. if or hopefully ;p

THIS 100%

I would always prefer if I could run games on CAVE manager as well. Looking at you Goldeneye and Starcraft.

Yes. I forgot to ask in my last post to please keep the RetroArch talk out of this thread. There has to be tons of suitable threads for such talk, and I can say for 100% certain that THIS IS NOT THE THREAD for such talk.

99% of time RA is brought up by troll cultists just wanting to baselessly put down anything else. Even if RA was better in all ways... NO ONE HERE CARES. This thread is for CaVE. Period. And CaVE has nothing to do with fan emulators like RA and its cores. And it never will. Even the CaVE 2.0 branch I'm developing, while it will support Wii, WiiU, 3DS, Classic and NSO... will only deal with official emulators.

I hate the term, because it's far too often used incorrectly, but... You could say CaVE and my work in general only deals with injection. It's not about the official emus being better. It's just the path that I and others are interested in.
