Basically what the title says. If I remember correctly, Dolphin (Wii emulator) did have a feature like that. It let you zoom, pan and rotate the camera freely. I would like to be able to do that in a couple of 3DS titles. I couldn't find such a feature in Citra (3DS emulator) though.

Unfortunately, there is no release available and building it manually following Citra's complicated building steps keeps giving me weird errors with barely any useful context which aren't covered by the troubleshooting stuff.

Thanks! That'd mean a lot! I'm on Windows 10.

Just a quick tip*: One step of the building instructions tells you to fill in the URL of the GitHub repertory "/citra-emu/citra.git", but this is for the original Citra and not that fork. So you probably need to replace that with (I suppose) "/magcius/citra.git".

*Not 100% sure about this, so don't quote me on that. (:

i kinda wonder if you could just replace whats been modified, but then you'd have to find out what had been modifed

i kinda wonder if you could just copy what was modified with the camera to the regular build, and then build the program, but then of course you'd have to find out what was modified

Yeah but with a super old version of citra camera merged with a new version of citra, the performance may be poor because they could have made some great changes to the code of the camera. Just speculating, I haven't tried anything yet.

I am leaving this off here. I changed some settings and finally got citra to build. BUT i finally tried to compile it with msbuild and it kept failing. fixed some more and now it has 489 errors. I am leaving this here. I tried my best but i believe that this camhax github is a failed WIP. here is the log if anyone is interested: https://easyupload.io/pphqit

definitely sad to see, i was brushing 'round on YouTube, there's this video by a guy the name of "Swankybox" who uses a free-cam for citra, theres some videos for super mario 3d land, so it's probably just a game specific hack, though i have less then stellar opinions on his videos, for one he's very secretive and selfish and sort of "gate-keeps" his free-cam and hacking tools, there are no credits to who made the hacks in the video or description, which completely discredits and spits in the face of the people who made the free-cam tool/hack, not to mention how it stagnates new discoveries in video-games, i have similar thoughts on that boundary break nerd lol, but this isn't a hate on swankybox/shesez thread so i guess i should keep quiet ;p

this might be a dumb question, but have you tried seeing when the free camera github was last updated/abandoned and then seeing what version of citra was out at the time? obviously mixing the old github project and the new citra will lead to errors as they update it a LOT in order to improve compatibility. Obviously it wouldn't support as many games that way but it's worth a shot? If you've already done that then I'm sorry LOL

RIP. best of luck to OP ig. I know there are ways to do it, since I've seen ACNL free camera vids b4, but no idea what programs they used. Since it was a higher quality recording, that implies that it was an emu. I'll see if I can find the video?

Edit : <- here was the video I was talking about. When I checked the comments, I saw one by a guy that apparently helped the creator with the mod to produce the video. He seems to not use an EMU, but if you want to try and get in contact with him, I found his twitter, which he seems to be active on.

https://twitter.com/rydoginator

His follower count is pretty low, so he has a high chance of responding if you get into contact with him, but he might not understand how to make it work with citra.

For those who are still having issues compiling that fork, you specifically need the latest version of Visual Studio Community 2017 (version 15.9) for it to compile. Newer versions will fail when compiling.

swankybox is a shitty youtuber. 4/5 of the video time is filler, he never actually discovers anything new, etc etc. also his voice is annoying as shit lol.
