Sorry. I meant the new Sonic game trailer specifically.

Not going to get my hopes up.
the problem with an open world sonic is there are so many ways to fuck it up. like is it just going to be an open world with loops, corkscrews and other shit you can run around or will it have actual levels like a hub? there's so many things about that that i just don't like the sound of. like botw was hyped the shit out of that and it ended up being for me a big overrated empty world to explore. don't want sonic to end up the same.

y'all obviously forgetting about the comics. they had what, a couple hundred issues, right? many, many years of plot and characters and lore. mecha sonic vs mecha knuckles was pretty dang memorable. solo knuckles was especially quality stuff, what with Archimedes and their ripoff Kingpin. so, they've got plenty to work with.

I mean, i doubt they will draw from the comics. Sonic 1 was pretty generic and by the numbers, but it was enjoyable.

hopefully they'll take a few risks or make it a bit interesting this time around. Wonder if they'll make sonic 2 a bit of a cliff hanger or something unresolved kind of movie.

I am getting sick of Transformer.. There is end sighing to this film!
The problem was Michael Bay stupid shit movies.

Unfortunately, there's another movie coming out and while it's not directed by Bay, I have no faith it's gonna be any good. That's the damage Michael Bay's done to the franchise.

I love it when shallow generic cartoons get rebooted into movies. Especially when they are based upon games that lack a gripping story not to mention characters. The world is generic. I enjoyed Sonic when it first released but I've always felt that the series has been mostly over hyped after that initial release. In fact any sonic game I have played since that was not a total train wreck, was held back only because they tried to cram a story in there and add character appeal. Sonic should be like the original DOOM, get the basic script... animals need saving from robot army.... do it. Done.

Now if you want a game franchise to convert into a movie, do the original Alone in the Dark, but shoot it like an old Hammer Film.
the stories in the early 3D Sonic games are basically the highlight of the entire thing. The gameplay was tedious even as a kid, but stuff like E-102 becoming sentient and then killing himself to release the imprisoned animal inside his robot shell was SICK

Sonic is a franchise that has weirdly complex and interesting story concepts but they never get fleshed out in the games, I think that the movies will have a ton of ideas to work with to adapt the games in a different way

I'm not suggesting that the games should be devoid of character, there are little things you can do In Game that say a lot, without bogging down the flow of the game, I mean this is why I am a fan of old pixel art anyhow. I grew up on Monkey Island and the like, so I'm pretty much an addict at this point, though that said, I don't think that engaging moment in the game is enough to translate well over to the screen.

I tried to watch the movie, and while I could not remember it or the Pikachu movie, I do remember hating the Sonic movie the most. Pikachu had Ryan Reynolds as a saving grace, and I don't know why I even find him funny any more, but I do. Then again I still love farts, so...

They always have the same sound effect like that slow motion sound effect.

Wow, Sonic Movie 2 is not out yet, and they're already working on Sonic Movie 3? Talk about dedicated.

I finally saw the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie on Hulu last month. It was pretty good, actually. I never was a Jim Carrey fan, so I was a little apprehensive of watching it (since I know of his warped sense of humor he displays in flicks such as Ace Ventura, I Love You Phillip Morris, and The Truman Show). I dislike him, but you know what? He does GREAT in a role you're supposed to dislike! He actually does a pretty good Dr. Robotnik.

It's an interesting twist on one of several stories that has been told on Sonic's origins. In Sonic X, Eggman and the Sonic Team are accidentally sent to Earth for the first time, but in this developing movie series, Sonic comes to Earth by himself, no team yet, and Eggman (Robotnik) is already here as a egotistic intelligent human.

The mixed couple thing is kind of strange (a white guy married to a black woman), but... eh, whatevs. It could be worse, and I can't complain about it too much, being strongly hetero. I do feel sorry about her mother at the end of the movie, though. :P

The voice acting and redesign of Sonic (remember the original design? Cringe!) is done very well; I'd imagine that this is what Sonic would look and sound like if he was a real living being. I'm actually looking forward to the next movie, and the third one after that. Hopefully, it won't just be whatever' s left on the cutting room floor, but some actually good ideas.

Couldn't they have waited until after the 2nd one was out? They released this waaay too early for it to gain any traction.

I suspect this is more for the investors than actual consumers.

'Hey look we have this popular IP we're confident about, please give us some money'.

If Knuckles doesn't have a Ugandan accent I'm going to claim racism whilst simultaneously playing my White Privilege card and throw my best SJW smirk on at the same time in an ironic, unironic fashion.

Am I Gen Z enough for you?
