As announced last October, Valve has been reviewing the entire Steam catalog for compatibility with the Steam Deck, and the first batch of compatible games has appeared online. As noted by a user on the r/SteamDeck subreddit, Valve has started updating store listings with Steam Deck compatibility notices, as can be seen by a search on Steamdb.

Valve has been breaking down Steam Deck compatibility into four categories: Verified, meaning it runs perfectly on the Steam Deck; Playable, meaning it might need some tweaks to run correctly; Unsupported, meaning it won't work at all on Steam Deck; and Unknown, meaning Valve simply hasn't checked it yet. Some notable titles that are verified as of now include Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Death Stranding, and Portal 2. The list is still being updated however, so keep checking this link to see what games are being added.

After a controversial delay close to its original release window of December, Valve recently confirmed that the Steam Deck is still on track to launch in February. When the Steam Deck compatibility program was first mentioned, Valve announced there would be a way for users to check their libraries compatibility before launch. There has still been no updates on that program, but these titles being updated could be the first signs of an official announcement by Valve.

Honestly, I've been on the fence with this thing every since it was announced and reservations happened, and I feel like I'm gonna have to let it go. Not because I think it's not worth the money, but more for the fact of I have enough devices around that fit my needs. (Still can't wait to at least see how emulation runs on it though)

The Steam Deck is far stronger than a Nintendo Switch, and will absolutely outperform it in terms of raw power. However it almost certainly won't outperform it in console sales any time soon, if ever.

Personally I hope my q2 reservation won't ship early, by the time q1 reservations ship tons of videos on YouTube will go out covering everything I could even think to ask. Although I have been saving money for one I'd rather know exactly what I'm getting into. Early adopters will always be the main key of if you should exactly buy one or not. Regardless I'll end up buying one just for the power of emulation.

Don't know if it'll be possible but if I could have windows installed specifically to say microsd regardless of slight speed differences instead of on board storage and load windows via microsd that would make things super more convenient but I'm sure driver issues would come to exist if you take it out all the time hell I don't know. Just excited to see what it really can do performance wise.

On the fence because of what I already have, as I have a more than powerful laptop that I can just put in my backpack and bring anywhere. And I also have a Switch I have from a year after launch that is used for Smash and any of it's first party games. So if I got the Steam Deck, it would be competing with both of those for whatever use case I need at the time, and for both emulation and anything heavy I have the laptop, and the Switch for ease of use for playing with friends. I honestly love small handhelds with a lot of power which is what made me want this, but with both the options and paying the price for another is a bit steep( even though I adore installing stuff on a new device and OS)

Yeah installing Windows on mSD shouldn't pose much of a problem, maybe slightly slower boot times and all that. I'd maybe consider dual-booting that way after testing the limits of SteamOS and the desktop environment, but I doubt I'll need to.

Laptop is a different way to play though, different form factor and experience, but if your goal is to game on the go whatever the formfactor, that would suffice aswel I guess. But yeah if you got so many goodies it becomes harder to justify, same for me. As I have mutiple ps vita's now 2 nintendo switches, and a phone with holder, All of which I can use moonlight to game on my PC if I wanted where-ever is wifi. (also got a nvidia shield, but the battery is dying)

Exactly, imagine having to worry about compatibility list on your new shiny 650$ device.

just install windows 10 on this bad boy and voila, you’ll have 100% compatibility. no need to fiddle with proton, wine, their various fork, vodka, whiskey, soju, etc

Windows 11's tablet mode would probably be the better fit, but even 10's tablet mode with the big start menu isn't completely unusable, once all important shortcuts have been added.

if anyone got his hands on a SteamDeck, kindly Report if Lost Ark is playable on it with full settings, otherwise ill Buy an Aya Neo Pro since upgrading a steam Deck with 1 TB internal storage and adding the Dock accessory will make it reach the price of other portable PC's
