Because someone has to care enough to make it happen and if they don't, it won't. Thats the way "the scene" goes.

Buy a Steam Deck. Problem solved, wheels fitted.

my prior point being that the switch is obviously more powerful than my phone so why can it not??
who told you a switch was more powerful than your phone? many flagship model phones are way more powerful than the switch... the switch at launch was still weak in comparison to the technology of the time.

...How are the Nintendo emulators these days anyways? I stopped using them a while back since the Virtual Console days, but with Nintendo now doing this NSO BS, might get back into it. Just realized that the Steam Deck can do more than just Steam, might throw some emulators on there for some GCN games, maybe a couple of Wii and Wii U games.

But yeah, in the past I've always ran into emulator issues, graphical bugs, audio bugs, lag, and crashes. (especially with N64 and PSP)

this is like asking why HOS Retroarch doesn't have Vulkan support yet. Linux based OS (such as Lakka/Ubuntu/Android) are more demanding than HOS but they have better performance simply because of better support. vulkan alone makes a huge difference

didnt retroarch have wii core? then wii should work on switch.

although the performance could be quite low as switch is probably waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less powerful than your phone
