I remodded my wii again after trying to get a seagate hdd to work with ntfs. No luck so I went back to my WD MyBook 1 gig
fat32. Everything is working great except Wiiflow. It tries to start, then kicks me back to the menu. Same thing whether I launch from Wii menu or Homebrew. USBLoader GX works, and that's the one we use, but we use this one occasionally so would like to have it if possible. Used the latest modmii. I'm on 4.1u. Sorry, I'm not really social, so I don't know how to use these forums well. Also I did run the cleanup after modding.

Syscheck looks good, and you say usbloader gx works so that's great, it means there's no issue with your softmod or hardware compatibility.

Wiiflow lite just was updated recently (modmii is still providing the 2nd most updated version for now), so I would try that, and if the issue persists try reporting it in the Wiiflow thread to get the right eyes on your issue.

Good luck and merry Christmas!

I replaced my 1tb mybook with a 3tb mybook (fat32 MBR) USB Loader GX is just showing game cube game now, and WiiFlow shows Wii and Game Cube, but it only shows the Wii games I had on the smaller drive instead of the whole inventory. Do I need to re-mod when I change hard drives? The paths and directories haven't changed.

Fixed. Sorry, but I don't know how to delete a message.

when creating a cios wad via modmii i don't see a option to select the slot. i'm forced to choose 249 or 250 and maybe 251.

so how do i change that? or is there a wad manager/installer that will install the wad in a different slot?

Got another Wii that I had given to the grandkids years ago. It's menu 4.1u, 4 gig fat32 sd, 2tb WD fat32 hdd. Had bootmii as boot 2 and ios. It has priiloader, but I can't run priiloader installer to update it. I get a message that is mostly off the top of the screen so I can't read it, then it says press A to return to menu. If I try to run priiloader from homebrew it kicks me to the wii menu. I can boot into priiloader but can't access the hacks (says syntax error) and when I run update it says error getting versions from server. Priiloader v0.7 (r138) ios60 a mod of Preloader 0.30 Syntax error - Expected 'version' before 'n' @ line 130 can't find hacks_hash.ini on nand, can't find fat:/apps/priiloader/hacks_hash.ini
I backed up the contents of the sd before I started, so I have the old hacks_hash.ini. I checked and the file is already in the apps/priiloader folder. I put the original back in the root of the sd because that's where it was before. Still no luck.

I think your issue is that you have a custom system menu installed: System Menu 4.1U (v54449). For system menu 4.1 this should actually be v449. Most likely the only change to the system menu was its version number, to try and prevent updates (even though this can be prevented using other means). To clarify ModMii does not change system menu versions, so this particular system menu was sourced from elsewhere.

Also your ios9 is patched for some reason, but probably has nothing to do with this issue.

Anyway, if you install the official 4.1 (or 4.2 or 4.3) U system menu (you already have the corresponding system menu ios's installed), it should allow you to update priiloader to the latest version. Note that your current version of priiloader will be removed/overwritten once you install a new system menu, so you'll want to reinstall it asap. Given you have bootmii installed to boot2, there's no real risk here.

@DacoTaco , is it normal / an intentional precaution for the priiloader installer to error out if it encounters an unknown system menu version #? Is there any other information about this circumstance that you would want to know?

Edit: the custom SM version # is also what would be preventing the priiloader hacks from loading properly.

yes the system menu version is rejected on purpose.
no the SM version doesnt do anything with the hacks loading. many things could be wrong there. updated file vs old priiloader, placed file in the wrong place, saved file is incompatible , ...

I think your issue is that you have a custom system menu installed: System Menu 4.1U (v54449).
I just downloaded 4.1u (549) with ModMii. Tried to install with YAWMM. I get "I won't install the wrong regions SM" error. I've never messed with regions, but I double checked Wii settings and it's 4.1u
MMM won't install the new menu either.
I bypassed the exploit step again on this wii since it was already modded. Should I rerun everything and do the exploit also?

MMM just says Final Status - 1 did not complete. At the end of the Installing line it says Title (-1035)
At the bottom of the MMM menu it says ios 58 (v6176). Should I change it to ios249? I downloaded the region change guide and that's what is tell me to do. I haven't run anything yet, just downloaded.

Okay, I suggest using modmii region change guide/wizard to "change" to 4.1U. Included in this will be a mmm config file to reload IOS249 automatically so that you can install the system menu. You could do this manually to just install the one problematic wad, but I'm suggesting the full region change guide just in case in response to the error you got from yawmm. Again, because of your bootmii boot2 you don't need to worry about risk, it's negligible

@XFlak

Hi there my friend, awesome work with your great all-in-one Wii hacking tool ModMii, but can i make a request for a next version of ModMii?

You know, i most use ModMii for creating DOL forwarders (SD/USB) pointing to a boot.dol of a desired folder for load a homebrew application, emulator, or something else on Wii.

But it is a little annoying to do that on ModMii Classic.

Can this function of making forwarders in DOL/ISO have a GUI in the ModMii Skin?

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year 2022 :D

Probably won't end up doing this unless there's lots of demand, but you never know, never say never. In the meantimr you want a faster method (albeit a but more complicated) you can open up a copy of the template dol from Modmii's support folder using a hex editor and enter the path(s) in the appropriate locations

Hi everyone, at my request the moderators at gbatemp have renamed this thread to “Best Way to Mod Any Wii: ModMii for Windows: Official Support Thread” (formerly named “ModMii for Windows Official Support Topic”). I hope this is more clear to newcomers browsing the stickies that they should start here when investigating how to mod their wii. (that reminds me, I should probably also update the first post with a link to wii.guide for those that don't use Windows.)

On another note, I wanted to report a known bug in ModMii Skin. I've had maybe 4 people experience this issue and report it to me on discord. This bug only applies to modmii skin, and not modmii classic. Sometimes, if you enter your sd card drive letter in ModMii Skin, downloads will fail. If you use the default COPY_TO_SD or you use ModMii classic, there is no problem. I will investigate this when I have time and hopefully address it in the next update along with the other items in my ever-growing to do list :)

Edit: random side note, I'm not sure if I can claim to be "Wii-tired but still kicking" anymore, as I'm pretty active these days responding to Q's in the forums. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions of what I should change my tag to?

Change it to "Wiiactive since 2010!", or "Wiiactive since.. forever! " 😉
