Clean and trimmed don't matter. Also, B4DS mode worked fine on DSTWO, last time I tried. Not all games will work, ofc.
Also, weird that they aren't working with nds-bootstrap turned off either. I'd say your ROMs are corrupt, but considering that they work on DSTT just fine, I'm out of ideas.

That's normal. Proper soft-reset isn't implemented in B4DS mode.
I had @lifehackerhansol take a look on Discord and they were able to replicate the same results. There seems to be something around with the autoboot launcher for the DSTWO that's causing the issue.
Worth noting that these are my own ROMs that I dumped from the games to test them, but I did replicate with a ROM that I grabbed off a ROM site to compare results. I know the ROMs are not corrupted.

I've never encountered this issue, last time I tried. Some specific settings could cause the issue. Try turning off card read DMA.
If it doesn't fix it, then either manually AP-patch the ROM, or wait for a fix.

The ROM needs to be AP-patched first, before applying a ROM hack patch.
hi, rocketrobz, i got the KH 358/2 days to work fine by manually AP patching the game using the DS scene tool,
works great, now i got pasted that black screen in misson/day 298 :)

i also got the pokemon heartgold rom hack to not frezze/white screen by AP pacthing the base game frist and the apllying the rom hack to it using ds scene tool.

and i got zelda psirit tacks to also work fine ap pacthing manually, and using the romhack of the DPad patch too!

v23.4.0: New Years Release

Includes nds-bootstrap v0.53.2

What's new?
Bug fix(?)
  • DSi-based themes: In order to work around a weird bug related to sleep mode, sleep mode is now disabled.

Thanks for the update. Never realised you can play DSIWare (NDS format) from SD card through TWiLightMenu ++ on a 2DS/3DS console. Only noticed it while reading through the nds-bootstrap loader thread. Rather than installing them onto the limited internal memory that can't hold many games.

Is there a way to exit a DSiWare games gunning through TWiLightMenu ++ or is pressing Home and X to close TWiLightMenu ++ the only way? The normal button combo to exit a retail DS game and return to TWiLightMenu ++ doesn't work.

Are there cover art packs for DSiWare?

Yes, there's no way to return to TWLMenu++ in DSiWare without exiting DS(i) mode.

Not sure.
Hello and a happy new Year :)

I want to play Golden Sun Dark Dawn, but only get a black screen...what do i have to do?
Wait for an unlikely fix. (I say "unlikely", because the main nds-bootstrap dev isn't around.)

Hmmm......so you mean that there will never be a Fix ?
What is so difficult about this game to patch?

The issue isn't exactly known, which is why there's no fix.

For now, you'll need to play from the original cartridge, or run the ROM from a flashcard via the flashcard kernel.

Are savestate a possible thing to do with nds bootstrap?
If not possible, it's possible to make the nds shortcut launch the game on the r4 sd using the r4 engine instead nds bootstrap to get the r4 rts savestate?

Is is possible to backup saves, but savestates are an emulator thing and this isn't an emulator, this is a software that tricks the 3DS and the DSi into running DS and DSi games that are not coming from the DS slot.

Any DS flashcard that can run DS games and runs either a version of Wood or YSmenu creates save files and can run most DS games with no problems. Just use that, outright R4 clones are limited to only 2 GB and is a tad hard to get 2 G micro sd nowadays but they run Wood with no problems. For YSmenu check the compatibility list. For now the stuff can still be bought and obtained online just be careful on what sites you buy them from.

Save states are actually a thing on a few DS flashcards, such as the DSONE and DSTWO, usually called "RTS" (real time save). They're not perfect as the DS has several write-only registers related to graphics so sometimes the graphics come out corrupted or such, but definitely possible.

For nds-bootstrap they should definitely be possible as it can already make RAM dumps and that's essentially all a savestate is, however it's a bit trickier to actually restore that dump back to RAM since I think some parts of RAM need to be handled specially and you'd probably need to fix where you return too or something, not sure exactly.

As you already mentioned, there is data corruption so is not something I would recommend.

Thank you for the latest games added to the B4DS compatibility list, RocketRobz. It is a shame that Fieldrunners requires the extra RAM of the debug unit.

I have tried the wireless feature of Magnetic Joe between DS Lite and 3DS, both running TWiLight Menu, and it sorta works, but it disconnects very often. Was that a normal thing back in the day? I never played LAN on DS, only the uber-hacked online of Prime Hunters and Mario Kart.

Nope, common disconnection isn't/wasn't normal.

Hello, I tried to make some forwarders using the homebrew application (can't get the java version to open), but special characters like é or à are corrupted. It would be "L'Épopée des élus".
Any solutions?

If it shows fine in other areas, then it's an issue with the application you tried. Try opening an issue at the "NDSForwarder" GitHub repo.
