My regular switch, which was running OS SX with the dongle stopped charging, I had it repaired and they replaced the "Power IC " chip and it now charges. However, after charging it and trying to play any game, I get the "Unable to start software. Return to the HOME menu and try again" error message. I also noticed that I can shut it off completely, turn it on and it boots normally (no OS SX splashscreen). Before, it would not turn on from being shut off completely without the dongle. Even if I put the dongle in, it boots "normally" as if it no longer recognizes or "has" OS SX. I'm beyond a newb to modding so I'm scratching my head...I got it modded from someone so all I have is the dongle and the sim card with games/files already on it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

you're not giving much information above - what firmware is the switch running? were you using sysnand or emunand setup?
If you're not seeing the SX OS splashscreen you're not running SX OS - so that error would be expected.

and, (more importantly) how well do you know the person who repaired your switch?

I will get the firmware info when i get back home today. I looked up what sysnand and emunand are and I don't kno which was being used (sorry). Just a local videgame repair shop near work, so I don't really know them. I told them it was modded before it was repaired for not charging. Thank you for taking the time to repond!

Ok, the switch is running version 9.0.1 and while now I know what sysnand and emunand are, I couldn’t tell you which was used. I just know that I couldn’t turn it on without the dongle before and now it boots right up without it if I turn it on from being completely off. My understanding is that everything was on the sd card, so I assumed since the repair had nothing to do with that they left it alone and it should work. Is it possible the sd card got corrupted somehow? The icons for all the games I had on there are there, just not playable because like you mentioned I’m not booting up in SXOS.

there is a heap of potential things to check to get this up and running again,
I would strongly suggest you speak to the videogame repair shop and tell them its not working like before - they will be aware of SXOS (they are a videogame repair shop after all) its what they do :)

let them restore your SXOS setup they appear to have messed up.
....then come back and get updated to SX 3.1.0 and firware 11.0
:)

if it boots ofw and the games tiles are still there and unplayable then you had pirated games installed on the sysnand which likely means the console is banned. if you had a emunand and booted stock ofw, you wouldnt see the pirated games at all. unless you want to jump through many hoops and work arounds to keep using sxos and not play the newest games, imo i would wipe the system, wipe the sd, update to latest firmware, format fat32, and setup atmosphere and hekate. sx os isnt maintained anymore since everyone got arrested, its a dead OS

Sounds like the dongle isn't working as intended since they repaired it. Your best option is to load the sxos payload from tegra RCM GUI via PC. Dont pay any attention to ppl saying your console is banned. The dongle just no longer boots into the sxos payload due to a repair.

didnt say banned said likely banned, which is very true if you run pirated nsps on sysnand! if you boot ofw and your pirated games are still there, yea, thats ban worthy.

Thats not what happen here and on top of that its a bias accusation, running a nsp on sysnand doesn't cause an immediate ban espcially if its not on the latest Firmware to begin with. Its when you try to play multiplayer games with piracy or shared save files can cuase a ban. But in order for that to happen you need the latest firmware to connect with Nintendo, last I checked the sxos only supports up to 11.0
Ive been using the sxos since 2018 I'm aware whats truthful and not.

op literally said they dont know if they have a emunand then stated booting to stock ofw shows game tiles that cant be played. so explain how thats NOT what happened...

never said it caused an immediate ban. but it absolutely will get you banned once nintendo gets the log reports. which happens once you update. being on a outdated firmware is in itself a self imposed temp ban so thats irrelevent as banned and staying on outdated firmware does the same thing, inhibits you from connecting to nintendo servers and playing online..

Doesnt matter if you've used sx os since the beginning, this is a universal issue with all cfw. having pirated games installed on a non incoginto'd nand thats used online, will eventually cause a ban.

He also stated his Switch is on 9.01.
Your missing the point. Think logical here and clear out the sxos hate BS created by other ppl.
You cannot get banned on a lower firmware. Why? b/c you can't connect to Nintendo servers for logs or downloads unless you update to the latest FW. the SXOS will not work if he was on a firmware higher than 11.0.

Thats another Bias accusation Nintendo doesnt have the power to ban a console by just updating.
Hes using an sxos..... he doesnt have much of a choice but to stay on lower FW does he?

"Doesnt matter if you've used sx os since the beginning"
It does matter 100% b/c I have an sxos switch in front of me and understand what it does and the features it provides. I do not feed off of other ppl here that spout out misinformation who don't actually own 1.

Anyway the OP isn't banned the entire debate is a waste of time b/c thats not even what happen here.
None of this stuff your saying is even related to the OP's problem

You picked one sentence in a paragraph I wrote and claim my entire post was about that. you also keep putting words in my mouth that clearly were never said. let me say once again and try to pay attention. I never said he was banned. I said likely, which is appropriate considering if he were to update he'd be in danger, and I assume he doesn't have a nand back up since he received it modded.

and wtf, yes they nintendo "has the power" to ban the console.. not because of the update but because updating re-establishes a link to nintendo servers and logs are sent. The only bias one here is you.. sx os is dead, thats a fact, and the issue were discussing exists on all cfw so again your "sx os mastery" is irrelevant. Everything else I said about sx os is also fact. Your confusing facts for slander.

Nope Im picking out everything you typed b/c it has no place here. The information your spouting out does not help the OP boot up his payload.
The OP wants a SOLUTION to his problem not a damn theory on bans and he never asked for atmosphere.

Believe what you want, but you aren't helping the OP at all here, your just rambling your opinions. Sxos support is dead, yet im still playing the latest games just fine... ofc you wouldn't know about that b/c you can't think for yourself and let others persuade you to jump on a bandwagon. Nobody asked what your beliefs and stance on the sxos are go create a discord or Reddit to make a shit post.

I just hope the Mods clean up this mess I'm not here to care about your whining and moaning on how you feel about it. You think just b/c a few ppl got caught and are in jail is going to stop me and others from using it? Your seriously stroking yourself right now. Do some more research then come back and talk to me properly. If your getting all this misinformation from that Nintendo Ban thread lmao this convo was over after the 1st reply b/c that thread is nothing but "Fearmongering" at best to help prevent new users from hacking at all. Good day sir

Chaosta stated: "didnt say banned said likely banned
(
That literally makes 0 sense btw) Why not just say if you hack your switch your likely banned????
which is very true if you run pirated nsps on sysnand! if you boot ofw and your pirated games are still there, yea, thats ban worthy.
Nope its ban worthy if you attempt to play online with others with piracy, Having pirated game icons on the homescreen has no relation to a ban they aren't accessible on OFW to warrant a ban which derails your entire point. Back in 2018 I used to play my XCI's on CFW sysnand but was smart enough be offline while doing so. But was never banned booting to 6.02 OFW
which was the latest FW around that time.
Also explain to me why the hell is my Nintendo Account not banned on my Atmosphere & OLED Switch?
The very same account I used on my sxos which also got a game ban from using a shared Smash brothers Ultimate Save file............ with your statement that means all 3 of my switch's should be banned now lol Hell my Atmoshere Switch has Tinfoil installed on the sysnand still not banned for a year so far.

"Sxos mastery is irrelevant" It couldn't be more irrelevant than your useless bickering on a thread about a sxos dongle not working:blink:. So why are you here in this thread? You literally have nothing to offer to help
see the picture below: This is what happens when you can think for yourself :creep: Funny that I have an Atmosphere Switch, but still prefer to use my sxos for a library of new games.

Lol you're full of shit with bias sx os opinions. You are not playing acnh latest update on sxos, issues will only grow as this dead os fades out of existence. Of course id suggest upgrading to the latest and greatest cfw. And you called me out with bs claims of words i never said.

This argument is bc you lied about the real ban Risk of pirated nsps on a online nand then switched subjects bc you know you were wrong.

Its your fault this thread is a jumbled mess. Next time don't call someone a liar when you can't even back it up kid.

Sounds like the dongle isn't working as intended since they repaired it. Your best option is to load the sxos payload from tegra RCM GUI via PC. Dont pay any attention to ppl saying your console is banned. The dongle just no longer boots into the sxos payload due to a repair.
MasterJ360, what you suggested made sense (dongle being bad) but after reading around a bit more and learning to get the switch into RCM (all I had was a thin wire connected to pin 10 and a screw on the joycon rail), I was able to use an online payload injector that included the sxos payload and it booted up in sxos. I was able to start up the switch games which were playable.

I then foolishly removed the wire that took me so long to properly position.....I was able to get it positioned again and tried with the dongle...it also booted and gave the sxos menu screen option to run CFW or OFW. I was able to run the games in CFW. So I'm stumped...what could have happened and how do I make it like before, where it would only turn on or boot if the dongle was connected? Is that the way sxos was designed to work, where it would never boot up from being OFF unless the dongle was connected?

Thanks again to everyone who offered their input, I'm hoping to be inching closer to fixing this and being able to enjoy my switch again.

You have a few options... Buy a new RCM jig from somewhere, or enter RCM again with the wire and immediately install autoRCM so you don't have to do it again. You probably should consider going to Atmosphere for your CFW needs, unless you can't live without USB XCI loading.

Yeah now the plot thickens, but you definitely need to get yourself an RCM jig do not ever use handmade wires or paper clips they will damage the joycon rails overtime especially when your having a hard time positioning it. I'm still using the same jig that came with my sxos pro(dongle) But yeah without a jig in that rail the dongle wont do anything thats why its called an RCM. And just for future reference if the dongle power green light doesnt turn on it just means you need to charge it with the Switch turned on for a few secs. Im just saying this to prevent you from doing another repair when it doesn't need 1.

I'mma just say this... Some dongles need to be charged, depending on how they are powered. So check that first. Some take a few seconds to charge if they use Supercapacitors, and some take longer, up to an hour like my "RCMLoader One" dongle does cause it uses an onboard 45mAh LiPo.

is it easy to make the switch? Any major advantages to doing so?
