Wow I’m at a loss. I have no idea what is the problem but I have tried Wolf, Leeful, NightKing and they all eventually KP coming out of sleep mode. Any ideas? I’m trying Karo now. And it always seems to KP on the 3rd time I wake. First 2 it wakes up fine.
I have applications suspended checked
Supply power to USB turned off
I have a fan usb, I’ve removed it. Still KP

O and last thing I can troubleshoot. I am using the most generic 1GB flash pen I have ever seen. I will use now a Sandisk 8GB 2.0 Flash Drive

I can confirm this happening to myself and a friend of mine, i don't think it is host related as the exploit hosted is essentially the same, maybe the problem is with goldhen payload, what i noticed is that if you leave an usb device connected or you are in sleep mode a lot of time, when trying to resume from sleep the chances of getting a KP are higher.

couldn't say why that's happening. I'm not on 9.00, I'm on 5.05 myself using xproject with an external hdd plugged in (wd black, 5TB), and ever since I got this cable to fix my video issues, I've never had one kp coming back from rest mode with any version of goldhen, and I've come back A LOT due to testing and paranoia (checking things). lol

just to clarify, i don't know if this is the kernel panic other people are refering to, but in my case, when trying to resume, the light in the ps4 is blinking blue, and the screen is black so i have to force shut down by pressing the power button until a beep is heard, then when turning it on, it checks the hdd and says that it was not turned off properly.

probably, yes. I don't know about the color of the light on the console, but checking internal storage is indicative of a kp.

I've been having the same issue.

Today however the console would not boot up, now it shows "PS4 Cannot Start" - Reinstall version 9.00 message... :(

EDIT: I've tried most Safe Mode options, reinstall is last one left.. Does anyone know where I can get the 9.0 reinstall file.. I only have the Update.

You could only try installing the recovery firmware, but if the problem occurs again, then your HDD likely has problems

Well still too early to tell but man can you believe I think it was the cheap usb stick I was using. I’m using a Sandisk 8GB 2.0 now. I thought it was fishy cuz when I would click Ok I would hear a weird click sound.

Yep spoke too early. Ok last thing then I give up. I’ve been using a usb switch cuz all the videos I see they are using one. Mine is 3.0 is that why maybe? Well I stopped using it so let’s see now. Wish me luck 😆

i don't really think is usb related, as the exploit is ~90% of the times launched without errors, if it was the usb then the kernel exploit wouldn't be successful since the beggining, instead of crashing after resuming from sleep.

The usb would only cause a KP at the point of exploitation. KP coming back from rest mode is more likely related to Goldhen. As the person before said, you're running unsigned code on your console so its never going to be 100% perfect,100% of the time. Personally I don't use rest mode as the exploit only takes a min to perform each time and I don't use the PS4 every day.

I don't want to sour things but I've left the PS4 in rest mode for months on 6.72 and never had an issue with it. This kind of concerns me so I think I'll hold off on upgrading for now.

Lots of peeps are using rest mode on 9.00 JB with no issues at all. It seems to be console related and from what I've read the original fat is the most reliable. That could be me reading between the lines tho... If I used the PS4 more I would use it myself.

Ok I’m on like my 5th wake and I usually have a KP by now so it’s looking like it might have been the usb fan I have hooked up to my PS4. You know one of those tower stands with a fan. Anybody else use a fan?

Keep us posted. I'm interested in upgrading but this sort of thing makes me pause from updating. I know that if I have a USB HDD plugged in that it causes a crash when resuming from standby in 6.78. I mostly use the USB drive to transfer as I have a 2TB SSD internally.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
