I'm going to leave up to OP and OP has say about this translation project.

Just saw OP responded in other thread about Yo-Kai Watch 1 yesterday and OP could come to here to respond.

I just gave an answer based on Discord.

I have to agree with matias3ds about this game needs to be picked up and localized.

Agreed, there’s clearly still a demand for a translation, would love to see this game finally got translated. I absolutely have zero hope for level-5 since they closed their usa studio.

To add some clarity once and for all to everything let me explain the current situation. The biggest thing needed for this massive translation project is more dedicated and invested team members to take it on with me. In secret I still have been working on an updated release of this mod here and there but I’ve just literally been doing everything myself for so long and got burnt out doing it all alone. This project requires a massive amount of work, research and detail. Even with a solid team it will still take me awhile. I had a pretty solid team there for a little bit but then Covid-19 and some internal drama ensued to eventually split the team up. So that’s the current state of things. I love working on and creating

Alright let me finally add some updated clarity on the current situation of everything. So to start yes internal drama did arise within the team shortly after the release of the first chapter 1/2 translation. The project was handed over to some members by me to lead charge with everything while I wrapped up some other projects then I'd hop back fully on board and finish everything with them. Release time came and the quality that had been achieved by the sole person leading this in my absence sadly wasn't up to the quality and consistency that the rest of the team was aiming for. That's what lead to many drop outs from various members and disagreements which split the team into two parts which then was followed by the onslaught of Covid-19 and all the issues that spawned from that.. leading to almost no one working on the project. I secretly by myself like always lol have continued to work on this project in the shadows in my free time when that motivation spark hits because well to be honest this project for YW4 is MASSIVE, It will take forever for one person to bust it out alone and that has lead me to get burnt out doing everything myself and from that I continue to do like I've always done and just jump to creating other interesting and fun projects from various games for other communities I enjoy until that motivation spark for this YW4 project hits again. Then I return and continue to progress a little more. But overall this project once again truly requires a LOT of time, research and patience and is very hard for just one person to do by themselves. If I could get another solid good sized team back together with the needed skills and mindset to work alongside me to complete this I have no doubt we could get this done, but we will see what the future holds. I've always loved working on video game mod projects and creating games so I'll continue to do the same and take it a day at a time. who knows, maybe this will be picked back up and finished in the next year or two years or so on, but as a now big YW fan myself I definitely see it being finished in the end.

Honesty, I'm down to be part of this project. I want this game to get translated once and for all. Count me in.

Hii, I would love to work on this with you, I LOVE Yo-kai watch and I learnt Japanese characters in high school, all the communication would have to be online though and I have absolutely no experience in coding.

Btw will this be available to use with the Yuzu Emulator?

Any and all help big or small would be very much appreciated. Feel free to join our Discord, that’s always the best way to contribute to the project and yes this mod will also work on Yuzu.

Great :yay: you are our hero! Do you have a team? Or are you the only one who translate the game?
How can i install the mod?

How can I install the mod on my switch?

Alright so for the first progress post on this project I've got a question for all my fellow modder savvy friends out there. The main files for Yokai Watch 4 ++ are .cpk for compression and then when extracted it's g4pk files and g4mt files. Anyone familiar with these file types? With Yokai Watch 1 I used the Kuriimu and Kuriimu2 program for all the translations and packing/unpacking file management. Was hoping to do the same with this game. Could anyone assist me with some knowledge or point me in the right direction for the correct way to go with these file structures? I've got the games files extracted and found the folders holding everything I need but no idea how to once again go about these file formats. Thanks in advance for all the help my friends!

Installation:

(MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE LATEST UPDATED GAME VERSION)

Installation of the project is very easy its a simple drag and drop. Everything is built around LayeredFS. So all you have to do is move the supplied "010086C00AF7C000" folder to the corresponding directory listed below depending on what Firmware you are using.

ATMOSPHERE DIRECTORY: Atmosphere/contents

SXOS DIRECTORY: SXOS/titles

Keep in mind when updating the mod to a newer released version it is always advisable to delete all the old files to avoid any possible errors or data corruption that might occur. Just delete the entire old folder and move the new versions folder in its place.
Edit: It occurs to me that you might have no idea what this means, so:
1. check if your switch can be hacked via the rcm mode exploit. (look up how to do this)
2. install atmosphere or sxos.* (look up how to do this too)
3. follow the instructions above

PS: remember to stay off the internet with your hacked switch or you'll get banned by ninty. Good luck.

*sxos is dead btw. Use atmosphere.

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
