As I scroll through a thread, I’ll come across an embedded video. Just by touching the video, it starts playing. I try really hard not to touch the videos, but I still fail.

Is there any setting to make that video stop playing automatically? I’m on my iPhone and all the settings have “auto play” off. I think it’s the page itself.

try clicking on your username on top right of the screen and in preferences see if the following option is selected. "Automatically watch content you interact with…" if it is deselect it

If it's an advert you're talking about, you can disable them in your User Preferences > GBAtemp Options > Display settings > Disable affiliate videos (tick this box)
thanks. the save option doesn't seem to be present for me, so it reverts back once I exit preferences.

No. These aren’t ads that I see. They are videos in threads, any thread. As I scroll, they just play. I’m getting better at not touching the video, but at 1am it can be quite shocking to hear anything coming from my phone. Lol. This is safari on my iPhone.

Embedded YouTube videos should not automatically play. And they don't on my end, at least on Android.

Is this an IOS/Safari thing? Anyone else getting this?

edit:
It plays as SOON as I accidentally touch it.
I just saw this... I mean, that's intentional behaviour. It's not our fault that you accidentally click play? There's not much we can do about that besides mail you a thumb condom.
