Thank you, but I really don't know what is steam or gog aha

The biggest plattforms to buy PC-Games next to Playstation Store, Nintendo eShop and so on?!
Or try to find it on Google. If you are not able to do a simple only search, you should really think about, if you will go on with homebrew ;-)

I don't see the connection between the subject which is the unofficial port of the game on switch... so why are you telling me about the steam platform? I thought it was a homebrew that's why I asked.

First of all it would be great to read the initial post with introductions:
How to install:
  • Download reVC-switch-gl3.zip from the previous link, which should contain a folder called reVC-oal-master after uncompressing the contents.
  • Create a folder called reVC inside the switch folder on the root of your SD card (so you get a reVC folder inside /switch/), and create a userfiles folder inside it as well.
  • Place GTA Vice City PC files inside /switch/reVC/ (not included with the downloads, buy it and get it legally!).
  • Copy the contents of the reVC-oal-switch folder into the /switch/reVC folder (do this after copying the PC files, important!).

You need the game files from the pc version in order to run the homebrew port.

Homebrew =/= Piracy. "Homebrew" is simply a term for applications designed to run on a system they're not supported on by default. re3 and reVC are RenderWare engine reimplementations (that's where the "re" comes in), which are the equivalent of an executable file that loads the original game's files, and comes bundled with data the executable file needs to load successfully. You still have to provide the game yourself, because if users were to provide the game files that becomes piracy. Therefore, you have to provide files from your own copy of either game for it to be legal for yourself to use and for the homebrew developers to distribute.

For example, I maintain three ioquake3 engine based Switch ports, VoyagerNX, OpenArenaNX and Q3ArenaNX. I can distribute VoyagerNX and OpenArenaNX in their entirety for free as both games are entirely freeware, but for Q3ArenaNX I can only legally distribute the demo version of the game, as if I shared the full game I would be distributing pirated software and would have to deal with the legal repercussions of doing so.

Hope that clears things up a touch!

Yes sorry my bad I thought it was a game itself not a homebrew.

It's my bad... I didn't read the 1st post so I thought it was an illegal version of vice city to just download and install like a nsp

You can find an nsp with included files on certain unmentionable sites. Google will help you with that.

Hey guys, followed the instructions and have my game set up, can launch it fine but when I try to start a new game, after everything loads the game crashes with an error 2168-0002, any idea what I might be missing here?

Also how would I go about creating an NSP forwarder or whatever so I could have a shortcut to it right on my home screen?

Edit: Nevermind, holding R and launching a title to open hbmenu, then launching GTA from there is working however I am still curious about how to create a NSP forwarded so I can launch it from the home screen.

So for the last build, is the game playable from beginning to end without any issues? I'd rather play the original than the remaster. Also how well does re3 GTA 3 run?

curious of this too, from a preservation standpoint. stability of a game is important for a good experience, however much people admire these sort of projects

..I thought I read skimmed throughout this thread that it crashes a lot?
edit- or not a lot but randomly, idk

unrelated-
I begrudgingly picked up the Trilogy for $30 some odd on cartridge a couple weeks, and completed GTA3. Latest patch for 'Definitive' Edition on switch aint half bad, didnt play the game at launch when it was supposed to be super broken, imo but maybe I have low standards. VC looks good too thats the one im on now, SA im a bit worried about since its the most complex but I always have it on GamePass too. GTA3 original on ps2 is the most rough around the edges, I dont think the 'definitive' one all that bad there.

I wish rockstar gave us 'original versions' too on Switch, like they did for PC users With all the backlash.

Im sure 'originals' on PC with tons of mods are the way to go.. but maybe mod scene is crazy for 'Definitive Edition' on PC too... I gotta do some YouTubing out of curiosity :D

ive never messed with Vita projects either, but aren't those from Android versions of the game (from thefl0w iirc?) ported to that system?

So many different GTA flavors. On top of the true originals on PS2 of course.

I know i'm too late for this but a physical copy on nintendo switch only has 1 game on the cartridge and the rest are downloads since rockstar wanted to be cheap and use a low memory switch cartridge. That and theres no patches on the cart itself they have to be downloaded. For vita gta 3 and vice city are pc ports and san andreas is a android port.

Yeah... I dunno why but I thought the game would've had 2 of 3 on cart but youre right only one, I think its gTA3 also.

and on an old buggy version so its horrid from a preservation standpoint too haha, never mind all the differences/slop in this version.

Still, saving SOME space on my tiny microSd on my OLED. always appreciated,

its a serviceable version of the game imo, but I wouldn't pay more than $20 digital / $30 physical, even with the concessions of the physical edition. Nice to have a GTA With Nintendo box art, feels wrong but right
