Hardware Is it possible to replace the V1's screen with the OLED Edition's one or even just a bigger LCD one?

I've seen some people saying these things *probably* wouldn't be possible, but those posts were from a couple of months ago, so perhaps someone has successfully done it by now.

I don't mind the lack of an OLED screen particularly that much, it's more about the size. Just the bigger screen size would be very nice, even if it's just LCD, which is fine too.

board layout is different as it is shifted to the right so v1 board won't fit into an oled.

Okay. What about a bigger LCD screen though? Or would it be too complicated to try to install a different, bigger screen into the Switch? Not sure if any third party screens for the Switch exist...

Never say never but I don't think it is going to be a case of someone making a custom ribbon, maybe with a few passives to sort voltage levels, and custom front case replacement, which in turn means more active measures in contemplating such things. We normally don't see such efforts until a few years later as well, and if things are going to have HDMI out then most will try to abuse that instead or make a quasi dock to use with a portable screen (and maybe some joycon chargers on the side of the portable screen.

I could cover some details here but I am not sure how much it would be worth

Also tell me what the likely reasons for the different wires flying off around the place when doing screen upgrades are.

Not sure what I have for screen protocol reverse engineering (some do it, especially when new phones/tablets might have nicer than what is available on digikey or whatever so they cannibalise said new phones/tablets).

Maybe things will be lucky here and the screen uses the same protocol (whether analogue internals or digital input level, perks to either method) but I would not generally place too much money on drop in, simple adapters for things like this becoming a thing for end users or skilled repair types, much less at this point in time.

Maybe, but take note that homebrew made for the Switch would not work with the OLED because of the bigger screen size. This may not prove much, but my point is that the switch may not be compatible with a bigger screen.

Simply download Fizeau homebrew, put light in 6170K, gamma in 2.1, saturation in 1.2 and luminiscence in 0.1.

Possible yes, anything is possible if you break on so many little pieces and have time/resources to complete each one. feasible, worth I don't think so. the "portable" screens will be more straight forward and feasible solution.

If you were totally dead set on doing a mod with old Switch and new Oled, you could always 3D print a new outer case to fit a new screen. Bet you could find a 3D print file (.stl) of the new Switch case online even.

Anything CAN be done....and to be frank, we all would like to see it too. I've seen a few Switch (and PSP) with custom cooling/OC in custom 3D printed cases (ABS), so more power to you if you so choose! Lots of very smart, and friendly people are here to help. But yeah a EXT monitor easier, cheaper, safer! Happy days to all!
