Xbox 20th anniversary event - 70 new backwards compatible games, Halo Infinite multiplayer beta launches today

Happy 20th birthday, Xbox! It's been two decades since the Xbox launched, and Microsoft will be celebrating the milestone with an anniversary livestream. The event will be a look back at all the accomplishments the brand has made throughout the years, but with some mysterious patches arriving for some older Xbox 360 titles, there might be some surprises in store. We'll be covering the event, which goes live in 5, so stay tuned to the live coverage!

It begins with the reveal of a six-part documentary series about how the Xbox came to be. It goes on to the launch of the 360 and the impact of the RROD.

More 70 original Xbox and 360 games are being added to Series X|S backwards compatibility.

These include Otogi, the FEAR franchise, Max Payne, NIER, and more.

Original Xbox games get 4x resolution on Series X, 3x on the Series S, and 2x on the One.

FPS Boost has been added to 11 newly added games, which now play 60fps. 26 existing games also get better framerates, with Fallout New Vegas, Alan Wake, and Sonic Generations and more.

New is the Paramount+ exclusive Halo TV show. Launches next year.

Halo Infinite's online multiplayer is launching today ahead of its launch on December 8th.

Here is a list of the games.

Nothing out of the ordinary/expectation... backwards compatibility = almost their slogan, and for a 20y celebration of course they would bring older games to the new console, it's like, no brainer! And of course a video game live action adaptation was announced. Will be just like all the others, trash.

meanwhile sony is like we dont care a single bit about BC games becuase we are selling more and that is the end of the story for them...

seriously making a ps1/ps2 emulator would be preety easy to get it to run on a ps5, a ps3 emulator is more complicated but nothing that would be impossible either, but ps1 and ps2 should exist by default.

You make backwards compatibility sound unimportant. Odd website to express that.

And on behalf of MSFT, I sincerely apologize for not exceeding your expectations for the 20th Anniversary event.

PSnow is their attempt at bc. I'm not saying it's good, but it's playable. Microsoft's attempt is so much better in every way. If I didn't care about trophies and my psn account I would just play everything on xbox tbh

what's funny is that the xbox series x seems to sell out more quickly than both the ps5 and the oled switch. @Hayato213 finally managed to get one, but he said that online they're sold out in less than a minute whenever they go on sale. I'm pretty impressed by the series x, didn't own a one, but I may buy a series x at some point.

gotta remember that you managed to get two ps5s before you could get even one xbox series x. I think the bc is a major selling point. the ps6 will probably be bc with all previous systems, I'd imagine, considering sony had no idea that microsoft was going to do that. it's going to eat into sony's dominance over them.
