Bethesda reveals Skyrim Anniversary Edition price and upgrade for last-gen owners

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been a landmark title, ever since it was released in 2011. In the ten years since its launch, the game has been ported to a multitude of platforms, and has been on every Xbox and PlayStation home console since the PS3 and 360. We're about to see yet another release of Skyrim, with the impending Skyrim Anniversary Edition, coming out early next week. The initial reveal of the game didn't offer any details on how much it'd cost to buy this version of Skyrim, let alone for players who have already purchased the game multiple times in the past. Now, Bethesda has informed players what to expect.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition will be priced at $49.99 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, if you own Skyrim Special Edition, you'll be able to upgrade to the new release for $19.99. Those that want to play the game on either Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 will be able to simply buy the PS4 or XB1 release, and will reportedly get better graphics and loading times on the current generation systems. Achievements will carry over from either Xbox version, however the same can't be said for trophies between the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions. New to this release of Skyrim will be Creation Club content, including a survival mode.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition will fittingly be out on Skyrim's 10th anniversary: November 11th.

didnt they said its "free" for special edition owners?
Yes, but sadly they meant the console users...for us PC peasants they charge a fee...
This time the other way around, because last time, when the Special Edition came out, PC owners got the SE for free and the console users had to buy it again...this time they charge us...So we can say that we're even?
But still....20 bucks for only some community mods pre-applied is just a slap in the face... I rather spend that money for a regular yearly NSO subscription or a yearly Pokemon Home+Bank subscription than giving it for a couple of mods...
It's just a shame...I always supported and liked Skyrim, I own it on multiple platforms, but this time around I won't fall for it. :P

Well, PC users get a free executable update for SE that is more than likely to break their mods. Does this count?

Kinda sucks that the Switch version won't get a similar update/upgrade, but that is understandable. The Switch, while an innovative console, isn't powerful enough to support the Anniversary content + Creation Club content... though I may be wrong.
The Switch can absolutely do it. People have made mods work on Switch.

"Difficult". LMFAO. Get the fuck out. The game has the difficulty level of blinking. Be sorry all you wish. Know what I'm sorry about? The fact you like a shit game.

Huh. How come I've never seen any Switch mods?
You need a modded Switch and only simple mods work, and they need to be converted. But that's more an issue of the game being a Special Edition port on a console thay doesn't want much mod support. It's pretty much the Xbox One port in that sense. No .BSA mod support or conversions.

Their response is pretty fair when the other person's whole argument is "you don't like it because you're no good".
