Hi, not sure if this is the proper place to ask for official help or not but after scouring the web I have not yet found a single person with the same error as me so here i am.

Buildup
I received my EZ Flash Omega Definitive edition (ill simply refer to it as ODE from now on) yesterday after purchasing it from Amazon, I tried it out immediately (after reading the manual and updating the firmware of course!) and all games work just fine, I set the clock in the menu but then i start noticing something wrong with the cart.

Problem
So of course since it's so annoying the first thing i do is turn off the light on the cart and then play a game and it all works out splendidly!
But the problem comes later when i take a break after saving and come back.

The light is back on and the save is nowhere to be found, So i go start troubleshooting and see what i can find and these are my results.

Results
- All settings except the clock in the cart menu gets reset after i move to another menu and back.
- All settings in the menu remain if i directly go to the game folder and start a game instead of back to the menu.
- The battery is indeed intact since the clock has been running fine this whole time.
- I tried a couple of games (GBA and GBC) and both have the same error but i noticed .sav files are being created and read but nothing seems to be written on them since the game acts like it's a new save every time.

- On the GBA side of things i tried Sonic Advance 2 since you create an account with a name the second you start the game so it's good for a test to see if it can save.
- On the GBC side of things i tried Links awakening since....i like that game.

- When playing GBC the game works as intended (except one sprite bug i got but i figured that was from messing with the menu too much) i tried autosaving and regular saving as well as loading the autosave and it all works!!! But when i turn off the Gameboy and start it up again everything is gone except the .sav

- When troubleshooting with Sonic Advance 2 i tried every single save type there was and i got the same problem with all of them except "Flash128" Which for some reason gives me a full save instead (I'll go ahead and guess that is the games fault more than the cart).

Summary
I have tried everything i could possibly imagine by now but ive either missed something super basic or i have a faulty cart it seems.
If anyone has encountered this problem before please reach out a helping hand cause i sure do need it!

Thanks!

First, you need to make sure that you are using a CLEAN ROM and not one that has been patched with SRAM type, which can cause save errors when the kernel determining the save type of ROM according to the ROM file header. When you use the correct CLEAN ROM, you don't need to change the save type manually.

GBC uses the GOOMBA emulator, you have to summon the in game menu by press L +R before you wanna to stop playing this game.

Every time the kernel boots, it asks whether to save the data of the last game, at that time you must press A to save, if you press B to skip, the kernel will give up saving the data of the last game to the SAVE folder. Or you can choose to enable autosave in the system settings. This way you don't need to press the A button to confirm when kernel boots.

As for your question about setting items to reset, I have not accepted any known reports of similar. Because this setting is not battery dependent, but is stored on the same NOR chip as the kernel data, whenever you press OK after setting, this data is immediately written to the NOR chip. If something goes wrong with this chip, you can't upgrade or load the kernel.

Hi thank you very much!

So i actually got it working by myself about 5 minutes ago.

The error it seemed lied within the firmware update.

I had downloaded the firmware at least 3 times and formated before updating everytime as well but i figured "what the hell" and gave it one last shot with ONLY the firmware update file on the SD card and nothing else and that fixed the issue!!

So if anyone else gets this problem, hopefully you find this post and it fixes the problem!

Hello

I have this same problem too. my cart arrived a couple days ago and it will not save any data. i've tried 2 different memory cards (a 2gb sd and 16gb kingston sdhc) formatting to fat32 using both windows and the formatting too suggested on the ezflash website. i've also tried installing the latest kernal multiple times, with and without any games already on the sd card.

i have the same problem where system settings (like enabling autosave or cheats) dont save, and simply reset when i change to a different menu screen.

also, i can get both gba and gbc games to play and use the in-game save menu, but i don't get the option to save the data of the last game when the kernal boots. also its not set to auto save, because it wont even save those settings as i mentioned.

have i just got a broken cart?

1. Please check the rom hash to confirm the rom is the clean one.
2. Please check the firmware version on the last tab, the latest version of and the kernel and firmware is kernel 1.03 and firmware 4, if the version is lower than that, please update them.

NOTE: You can compare the md5 hash of the kernel which you extract to the SD card with this one:
SHA1(ezkernelnew.bin)= c7fa2414ffef71b97596b36bdf7c15253e8526ef
Because sometimes the file which extracted have a bad hash(maybe the windows issue or decompress software), that's why we need to compare the hash.

I think that's probably what happened with post #3, and after decompressing it multiple times, it finally got it right once.

Final note: 2GB card is not supported. even you formatted it with FAT32.

Thanks, that seemed to help. i had v1.02 instead of 1.03.

I don't know if ezflashomega. com is your official website, but the download page on there only had v1.02. I had to get v1.03 from ezflash. cn.

Thanks for replying quickly.
