A new State of Play will be broadcast on October 27, 2021, at 2:00pm PT / 10:00pm BST. The presentation will focus on games from third-party studios, including both previously-announced titles and new ones, and it will last approximately 20 minutes. Sony also issued a warning to content creators that the presentation will have licensed music that Sony does not control the copyright for, which could interfere with video coverage of the event.

Funnily enough the automotive industry panicked early in the pandemic and cancelled most orders, so they actually helped everyone else by freeing up slots.
That didn't actually help things, since they then had to put in massive orders all at once the second everything started opening back up again. The whole mentality of keeping just enough product on hand to fill current demand is really problematic. This won't be the last pandemic or supply chain disruption to happen in our lifetime.

It really goes to show how everything was balancing on a knife edge all that time. Too much reliance on China and Taiwan instead of building manufacturing infrastructure in our own countries.

the console lost all exclusives what they gona show more game for PC lol
I mean...yeah? They'll probably just keep games exclusive for a year or two before porting them to PC now. More sales at full price = more better. Just means PC has unquestionably won the platform wars, since all Microsoft games are released for it day one, and pretty much all Nintendo games can be emulated at full speed.

Scalping is the scalpers fault. But, it can probably be minimised to some extent if the company cares enough, like Valve for example with the Steam Deck.
also the governments fault, as they can stop it, but choose not to, retailers can as well, simply disable online orders and make it so a single person can only get one ps5

I do think it would be cool to see what gets announced for PS4, since the PS5 has sold only 10 million units, while there are 114.9 million PS4 consoles out there.

Until Sony solves their PS5 scalping problem, I'm loyal to PS4.
12.75 million PS5 last time I checked. Not ecen a year yet.

The ppl buying the items for inflated prices on auction sites & the ppl who use scalping services are to blame for the current situation.

It's absurd how many otherwise capitalists want the government to reach deep into markets so everyone can have cheap video games of all things.

Demand is through the roof, these things cannot be made fast enough. In a normal market when supply is constrained, prices go up. That's why "rare" things are valuable. Sony/MS chose to set an artifically low MSRP and force as many retailers as possible to honor it, when the market value of these items is so much higher. That's the only reason these things will not stay on store shelves and you have to go to ebay and back alleys and what not, because retail can't sell the products for what they are actually worth in the current environment. This is completely Sony/MS' refusal to take a PR hit of a price raise to adapt to actual conditions, and the government should not be stepping in to cover for their mistake. (Although I wouldn't mind if they made price fixing *actually* illegal and retail could sell products for whatever they want, manufacturer be damned.)

If you really thought that entertainment electronics were a more essential material right than stuff like food, shelter, or even transportation, the government should be investing in local chip fabs, so that demand could actually be met. Rather than trying to cut scalpers out of some random lottery system because in the end there would still not be enough consoles to make everyone happy.

Not even close to losing all exclusives. Not even. Also, Sony has already stated it's going to be focused on 3rd party titles so I'm not sure what some of you are even talking about.

@D34DL1N3R, would you rather pay $70 for a PS5 indie game, or $20-$30 for a PS4 indie game?

For starters, I've not seen a single indie game on PS5 for $70. Secondly, I'd have to go with the PS5 version because just for starters it would most likely be the superior version of the game between PS4 and PS5.

And people complaining about scalpers is lmao. If I have zero problem getting them online from all of the major retailers multiple times over at retail price... someone else is doing something wrong. As a matter of fact... anyone looking? I have one disc version in stock. Have sold the rest for $700-$900 a piece. More incoming though.

I really don't understand why anyone would be upset with the PS4 still getting games.

I always hated that Nintendo abandoned their previous console almost immediately after the successor release, I thought it was fantastic as the Xbox 360, a console from 2005 still got pretty awesome ports like Metal Gear Solid V and Rise of Tomb Raider in 2015, 10 years after its release and it's amazing to see the PS4 still getting big titles even at 8 years old.

Not everyone can afford a PS5 (and not everyone can find one), so the PS4 not only ends up being a cheaper option for those who can't afford a PS5 right now, but it also ends up being the only one option for many.

Also, looking at the company's point of view it makes perfect sense to continue with crossgen games for a while longer, after all you end up with a much larger installed base, games these days are too expensive to produce, it's essential to have a warranty that it will sell a good number of copies and you end up increasing your chances of the game selling well by making it crossgen.
