Here's what happened:
- I had my Vita plugged in with a charger in sleep mode and haven't used it in a while.
- At some point the Vita turned itself on, which has never happened before.
- It was displaying the "please do not remove the memory card while in use" message, which often shows up when i turn it on from sleep but, again, this is the first time it woke up by itself.
- By the time i realized it was on, which could've been hours, it was extremely overheated. It should be noted that i used to play demanding games like Gravity Rush while charging, even with NoPowerLimits on for full brightness, and the console would never reach anything even remotely close to that temperature.
- I was pretty tired then so i just unplugged it and put it back to sleep.
- The next day, i noticed it was on again.
- I restarted it and it wasn't picking up the SD2Vita.
- Later, i pulled the SD card from the SD2Vita and plugged it into my computer.
- The card's capacity showed up as 0 bytes and Windows told me that i don't have the permission to access it. I aslo wasn't able to "eject" it in file explorer, and it would still show up as a drive even when i unplugged it.

Here are my questions:
- Is it actually possible that my vita overheated to the point of killing the SD card in the SD2Vita?
- What might've caused the temperature in the first place, and why did it start turning itself on?
- Could this have been some random person messing with my Vita through the internet? I figure CFW might lower the console's security. Or maybe some random plugin i installed was a trojan?

Can you post your plug-in list?
Was any game in memory, or was it truly idle?
Mine, every so often, blinks the blue light on the PS button. It is aggravating, but doesn't turn itself on.

I would start from scratch. Making a very basic setup, waiting for a couple of days to test it out and adding plug-ins and try to find out it it was something overclocking the system.

And I'd sleep with it by my side. The 3DS is no contender, as they are different systems.

Unfortunately, i no loger have the plugins or the config file from when this happened. I'm positive it was on the home screen though, since i haven't used it in a while, and i always beat games without long breaks. And i do also get the blue flashing thing every once in a while, but it would never wake the console from sleep. I did start from scratch and there are no issues so far, although i am not using the SD2Vita for now. Also, thanks for the last tip. I now leave the vita on a higher drawer than the DS while charging, as a sort of symbol of respect. And i did go back to playing emulators on it, so i think we're back on good terms now!

Vita fried itself ?

Didn't know this is a thing, gotta pay attention now to temperature.
I never had a problem like this while actually playing a game, even while charging, so i wouldn't be too worried about this. It was clearly caused by some specific issue.

Anyway, i rewrote the original post, in consideration of stuff that happened after writing and some people not being capable of reading more than one paragraph at a time.

For those who already read the original post, here's the new stuff:

Your card possibly became corrupt because of the forced shutdown.

Run in your command prompt the utility named fdisk. Then write:
Lisk disk
Select disk <number of device>
Clean

Big thanks for the tip, i'm sure it would work, but it seems like my stupid a$$ lost the SD card xD
I've been looking for it since i've read Your reply yesterday and it's straight up gone. If i ever do end up randomly finding it then i'll be sure to try this.

Although, i would like to note that i don't think i've ever forced a shutdown while the SD2Vita was active. After the overheat thing happened the console never even tried to read the SD2V, i know since i always keep the cartridge flap open while booting to see if it's being read (there's a blinking light if it is). From the moment i clicked "ok" on the 'don't remove memcard' prompt, which i had to do often beforehand with no issues, the light never blinked even once. Is there anything else that could've caused such a corruption?

Either way, thanks again! I'm sure that tip will eventually save someone else's SD card, hopefully mine too one day lol
