There really should be an option for the OP to lock threads if a subject has been taken care of.

P.S: I have not made any threads myself, so I wouldn't know if one exists.

Sometimes more than one person has the same problem and it can be useful for people to find old threads where solutions are discussed. Sometimes (but by no means always) it is even useful to reply to those old threads in an effort to get new clues.
