Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield (Version 1.1 Major Update! EXP. Candies Return!)

Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield - v1.1

I can't believe I am finally writing this, but Phives and I are proud to finally present Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield, a difficulty romhack. Why release another romhack when Sacred Sword & King's Shield is out, you may ask? Well to be quite honest, that project was rushed and is not something we are particularly proud of. So, we have been working on an entirely new one ever since the release of the Crown Tundra. Now, over half a year later and a LOT of hours sunk into playtesting, we are finally ready to release the first version!

Intro - What is Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield?
Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield is a difficulty romhack, taking inspiration mostly from Drayano's work. However, I also played Radical Red last year and took some inspiration from that, although outside of QoL features those are purely optional. So don't worry if you want to play in Switch mode and use healing items in battle! We've made edits to nearly every Pokemon, mainly focusing on making egg and tutor moves available through normal level up movesets as well as providing buffs and new moves to tons of different Pokémon. Of course, there is documentation for everything included in the google drive folder with the download. We've of course redone the team of every single trainer in the game, and hope to encourage team building in order to over come these challenges. However, it is important to remember that all of this is done within the confines of Sword & Shield. We cannot make the AI super smart, nor can we force certain aspects like a level cap, etc. However, we have gone to great lengths in order to make it the best we possible could.

Notable Features:
  • Completely reworked Raid rewards system
  • All 600 Pokémon from Sword & Shield (including DLC) catchable outside of the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra
  • Overhauled boss battles
  • Quality of life features such as purchasable EV reducers
  • Shop overhauls in order to make competitive items easily accessible
  • Healing items disabled during trainer battles (THIS IS OPTIONAL)
  • Battle Items removed from the game (not optional, as X items are the new purchasable EV reducing items)
  • Edited Adventure Guide for in game documentation
  • Edited Pokémon & various buffs/moveset edits.

Credits & Thanks
  • The amazing creators of pkNX, this project would not be possible without their hard work
  • Drayano, for allowing us to reference some of their changes from Renegade Platinum.
  • The creator of Radical Red, soupercell, for allowing us to use certain Pokémon edits from their romhack in ours
  • https://twitter.com/__Toner___ for the logos

Pokejobs being broken is an intentional feature in order to prevent an EXP/EV exploit.
The only part of the Post Game that is currently finished is the Hop & Sordward/Shielbert section. Champions Cup rematches and such are not edited yet.

When looking thru the In-Game Adventure Guide i can not see the Evolution Guide at I am at the first Gym battle. Is there something I did wrong or have I not unlocked it yet.

Just reached Slumbering Woods post-game. Hop's team was level 60s, while Sordward's team was correctly adjusted (level 100s). Is this meant to be like that? My starter is Grookey.

First of all let me say thanks for the amazing work done in this mod!

I too have a question regarding the post-ending content.

I visited Slumbering Woods where Hop was , and fought his team there that was obviously not touched yet (like the post before mine mentions)

I got confused though, cause after that I got into a fight with someone called
Shielbert
which had a full well built lv100 team.

I assume this is because it's content that I could done before the ending rolled (never got the cover legendary after all ^^), but I wonder if there is anything else worthwhile to do that I could have missed, even though I did explore very thoroughly and had ~100 hours playtime, I got a bit more hasty once it seemed the ending was near.

Any suggestions are welcome,

thanks!!

I'm getting stuck just after Ballonlea. There are no Blissey I can find to grind and all the Chansey are around lvl 35 or so. All the wild Pokemon I have access to are much lower level and so I don't see any way to level enough to beat Hop. Any ideas?

Edit: I powered through it. It felt hilarious cycling through the wild area attacking every Chansey I saw but I only needed a few levels. I'm sure there was a better way to get through this, but I'm having SO much fun with this mod!!!

Please understand that this romhack is not designed to be played without the Pokemon changes. I apologize for the inconvenience but we spent a long time balancing around said changes and as such have not and will not provide a "vanilla" version of it.

Catching new pokemon and trying to get them up to speed with the rest of the team is a chore, because you have to track down chanseys. It's boring, not good fights and it still takes a long time grinding. It sucked much of my enjoyment of this hack

Yeah, I think removing candys was a really bad choice after playing for more than 20 hours (like removing pokejobs). At least, like healing items, making it an option, and not imposing it to the player that choice would had been nice.

Hope Kobazco decides to make a few changes here and there in the future, becuase battles when you're leveled properly are plain awesome and in the exact difficulty, but its indeniable that there is room for more improvement in a lot of aspects.

Healing items are optional though, there's a separate download for them. I do realize that in one point in particular (around/after Opal) the grinding gets tough to make it past the Hop fight, but after that Blisseys appear at an increased rate in order to make up for it. Please understand that EXP candies make the game impossible to properly balance.

In terms of EV training, a ton of people seem to have missed that the BP shop in Hammerlocke has EV training items available for free, and those items have been modified to give more EVs than usual, greatly reducing the amount of time it takes to EV train your Pokemon.

Basically, PLEASE PLEASE actually bother to read the documentation, and you'll have a much better time.

Hmmm, I saw on the documentation that on Hammerlocke's shops were selling ev training items, but I never actually readed the "new effect" table, and therefore never knew about increasing 16 evs per use. I was using feathers for raids only lmao. Anyway that's really a good thing to know and use from now and on.

And although the leveling problem isn't that much of a problem (I know Blissey apperas after route 7) if you use more than 6 pokemons, it is sort of a problem every time you face a new trainer, and on top of that, becomes a bit tedious hunting blisseys with 5% chance of appearing. Because, like I said, teams are actually challenging, and after 3rd badge I'm finding myself underleveled almost on every ocasion (which wasnt that much of a problem between the beggining and 3rd badge).

But considering ev training is more easy than initially appeared, I should play a little more, using those items and see what happens. In the end, gyms and a lot of trainers are very fun to battle, so there is no reason to distrust that with proper EV training everything will be better

Can you evolve pokemon that evolve with item trades (or trades in general) normally? IE just using the item in them will make them evolve.

Just done first gym, was really fun. Have had the crashes as people have mentioned in the wild area but so good to have a gym fight where my guys faint.

Thanks a lot for your hard work and documentation.
