I'm glad to know it helped you! But yeah, it's a little complicated. As long as you do it with calm, read carefully, at least, you need to do only one time per game. I have backups on my computer for all games that I fixed. If for some reason I loose this backups, I'll need to follow my own tutorial in the future (because I already forgot how to do some of this stuff haha).

Do you think it's possible to inject skylanders spyro's adventure wii to wii u, unpack it to nus, and replace jap texts of the wii u version (jap exclu) by english (or french texts in my case) from wii version vc inject by following this great tuto ? Sorry, I really don't know. All I did, was following threads specifically to Wii U games and software for it. I don't know how Wii games are structured and how to access/replace files.

Hi there, I have a Japanese Wii U and still need to mod it with haxchi and spiik. As I think these are the most common programs. I think I also need HBL? But I’m not sure... anyways, I only got this Japanese Wii U as a gift because I want to play Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water. I can’t read Japanese and I hoped I could play an US or PAL version on my Wii U. Have anyone tried it out and got the game running without problems?

Yes, japanese wii u here, I can confirm the US version works. No patch needed.

Prerequisite:
CFW (i choose CBHC) + spiik

Now that I’m at it (finally) I noticed something really critical. I can’t even buy a game from the Japanese store because I live in Germany. So CBHC is impossible and I don’t even know if spiik works then too. So I don’t know if I can play fatal frame 5 if I homebrew my Wii U with mocha or indexiine ;; can someone help me please? Or tell me if it’s possible?

Regarding eshop, do you manage to sign up for your nintendo network ID? if so, just navigate to your 'purchased' library, it should have one ds game already available to download for free (at least mine is). As the menu would be in japanese, use google translate on your phone if you have to.

Then proceed accordingly as written on the wiiu hacks guide website.

as for Mocha, i think it also allow you to launch hombrew apps from homebrew launcher? if so, then running spiik should also be possible?

Thank you ProtossEvo for your tutorial. I made my Mario Kart 8 and it works flawlessly. Could you please share how we know the Title_version to change. For example Mario Kart 8 you change from 01 to 40. Understanding the logic I can do by myself for the rest of my games.

I am wondering the same. Where do these numbers come from? Are they put there like random just as long as the number is higher?

I think I'll try myself to install MK8 with even higher numbers and let's see what happens... The worst that can happen is that it won't work!

I follow guide in post #1 but some game i can't find way to change language, ex: Batman arkham origins.
I replace file name with "...JP" with "...INT" but it dont work, Hang on title screen.
I don't know How game check region/

That does make sense, with you being in Vietnam, which is relatively close to Japan.

you need to replace the file in English folder from USA game, not only change the folder name. Keep the folder name because the console understanding it's Japanese region.

I decided to not mess with language changing for now. After playing a few JAPAN games I believe it's not necessary to put so much effors into forcing translation on games and that it doesn't prevent you from progressing in the game.

Mario Kart 8 being a prime example of that.

The only games that seem to be problematic are the Batman ones and it seems nobody figured out how to force English on those games.

With adventure games you won't understand what to do if you don't know Japanese. English more common.

I suppose this could be used to run the exact reverse, IE Japanese only games on US or EU systems.
