But did you fight Team Aqua as well as Magma? Nope. Whereas, back on the GBA, Emerald allowed you to fight both Teams, and both Teams had their own secret bases (Magma's being in the Jagged Pass, and that base does not exist in ORAS).

So ORAS are definitely NOT "Emerald remakes".
well... it was Alpha SAPPHIRE
OF COURSE I fought aqua, but i did fight magma as well

Really? That section in the game you enter once and never again is more important than the battle frontier? Where you can spend more hours playing than the whole main story?
Most people that played Platinum never even bothered with the Battle Frontier, that's why it wasn't in ORAS (The only time the Battle Frontier looked fun and enjoyable). The same can't be said about the Distortion World, as that is what made Platinum, well, Platinum, and was a great experience for kids playing through for the first time.

Odds are they'll probably just throw in the Distortion World in the post game at Turn-back Cave.

You interact with both teams far more than you did in the originals. Oras may not have been an "Emerald remake" (Such a stupid excuse to not include 3rd version content but whatever) but they sure as hell expanded on the originals. The story is far different from the originals when you have Primals, Zinnia, New Mauvile, and Multiverse confirmation. Doesn't look like the same will be said for BDSP unfortunately but we have seen Platinum NPCs and Pokemon from the Platinum dex in the trailer. My guess is that the story will be almost identical to the Originals with the inclusion of Platinum characters (Looker & Charon) and maybe more Platinum content like the Distortion World in the post game.

That'd be one depressing remake.

If it's like that, then it'll be the third year in a row that I'll not purchase a single Pokemon game.

1) I quite like the Battle Frontier, for the most part (the random-reliant Factory can go die, though), so another pair of games leaving it out for no good reason would be a good reason not to purchase them.
2) The Distortion World better not be postgame-only, or restricted to the tiny portion accessible via Turnback Cave.
3) Primals in ORAS were...alright, I suppose. Zinnia was whatever, since she really only featured in that lacklustre "Delta Episode"; she might as well not have existed.
4) The story really isn't all that different from classic RS, as a whole; sure, some new details because of Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion, but the games really didn't "expand on" the classic games whatsoever. Utterly disappointing, they were, and adding May to events she wasn't in back on the GBA was hella annoying - she had zero reason to appear in Meteor Falls or Sootopolis City.
Oh, and the Eon Flute is slow and clunky - HM02 Fly is far better than that trash.

Good for you. I'm actually boycotting Pokemon games too. Started with Sword and Shield.
Let's Go! was my first, since it was such a step back from even FireRed/LeafGreen - no Sevii Islands, no held items, no VS Seeker, no #152 onwards, requirements to even enter Gyms (like having a specific type of Pokemon, having a specific level or higher, having a specific number of Pokemon 'seen' in the Pokedex, etc.), and still no day/night time system - something Kanto has never had, not once, when Hoenn got it in ORAS and every other region has had it since their debut. Not to mention the extreme lack of moves, and GO connectivity is utterly pointless when that crappy mobile game now has Sinnoh 'mons added, last I heard; might even have Unova, for all I know - and NONE of those can be passed to Let's Go.

LGPE was a major shock, one that was initially promised to be a one-time disappointment; Sword/Shield then slaughtered my remaining hope and trust in the series. If BDSP (...one letter away from kinkiness; surely they'd know that'd happen) fails to live up to the DS trio, then I'll happily write off the series altogether.
Third strike, Game Freak; third strike.

Oh I skipped Let's Go too, those were trash IMO. They were baby's first RPG game.

That'd be one depressing remake.

I mean given the feel for the room in terms of design of the graphics of the game everyone is already in that mindset as it is.

That said while the "Chibi" look is not great, it personally does not really bother me all that much as long as the gameplay is as good if not better than the original games that its remade from. As someone who had played and still has their copies of Diamond and Platinum, I have nothing stopping me from playing those games again if this remake ends up falling short of that intent.

Plus who the hell knows, maybe they will add an update that will update the visuals via a toggle or some crap to make everyone happy. Not likely but who the hell knows when it comes to Nintendo's more profitable IP's.

I agree, Im willing to overlook everything as long as the Battle Frontier is there with all its glory.

inb4 morons cry about the graphics being faithful to the original

oh wait

Anyway really hope Legends Arceus turns out good. Seemed like a really fun concept. Pokemon should've moved to an open world format ages ago, one of the few series that'd actually benefit from it.

Unlike, say, another Nintendo mainstay - a certain Legend with three golden triangles. That didn't benefit from an open-world transition at all; instead, it stripped away what made (almost all of) the 3D games so fun.

Faithful to the original in all their Windows 95 graphical glory. I'd really rather have pixel art than this Nick Jr art style. I hope you enjoy Legends at 15 FPS though.

Am I the only one thats not interested in the Diamond and Pearl remakes? Didn't even like that Gen.
I'll probably buy one used later, if the price is ok (60CAD or so (brand new, they are 80CAD+tx here))
But I'm way more hyped for Legends Arceus
